iNCREASE IN PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRIC RC CARS

1.Use proper gear ratio.
The best way to reduce or minimize your motor from heat is by using difference gear ratio for each circuit lay out. Although you had made a proper gear ratio setting for one circuit, it's not meant that this setting is suitable for other circuit. To do this you are advised to follow gear ratio setting recommended by your electric RC Car manufacturer and by your own experiment
If your motor temperature is too high, you should replace with a lower number of teeth of pinion.
-If your motor still cool, you should try to run with a higher number of teeth of pinion.
-During your experiment to find the best gear ratio, you should target to optimum performance.
-Less number of teeth of pinion will increase acceleration torque but less in top speed.
-More number of teeth pinion will increase top speed but less in acceleration torque.

2.Proper gap setting between pinion and spur.
Proper combination of your pinion and spur won't benefit you if you are not concerned on your pinion and spur gap setting. This is one of important things
to consider to ensure your RC Car motor serve you at optimum performance.
Toward to this make sure your gap setting is not to close ( tight ), as it will cause your motor temperature increase faster and if your setting is too big it will cause your spur wear off faster.

-Easy way to make an adjustment is by using a sheet of paper (A4 -60gm~70gm of thickness).
-Loose your motor mounting screw, put the paper in between of pinion and spur, turn your pinion until the paper fit between pinion and spur.
-Tighten the motor mounting screw.

3.Proper maintenance.
In order to make sure your RC Car motor continuously serve you better, you are advise to do periodical cleaning and lubricant on your rc motor. Use only "Cleaner and lubricant" recommended by RC Car manufacturer.

4.Electric Motor Breakin
to reduce the friction due to the carbon brushes on a brushed motor i personally advice you to breakin your motor everytime you buy a new one or buy new C brushes.To do this , connect your motor to a DC supply of ~3V for about two hours. this will reduce the friction b/w commumator and brushes
THESE STEPS WILL INCREASE THE PERFORMANCE BY UPTO 30% .

This was probably written by the actual author when the brushed motors were in vogue. The latest brushed motors and ESCs require little or almost no maintainence. They are torque and speed freaks out of the box.

I am thinking of ways and tips to tone down my Mamba Monster 2200KV combo installed on my ST-1. I had a sample of the power the hard way on the first day of testing, I hit reverse to check if its working and the car hit my legs and climbed up to my knees. The spinning tyres took little paint off my sexy legs. ;D

And this was with the smallest pinion and only a 4S Lipo, Mamba can pull upto 6S.......

what is your mamba size?? ihave a 7700kV mamba -540
i use it with 4 cell on my associated t4
i tried using it with the 6s but the drivetrain coudn't handle the power and broke. also when i bought the cars it din had all metal gears, and when i ran the car for about 10 mins woth 1 6S, all my gears were worned, and they were absolutely plain with no tooths left
now i have MG on my t4

u'v got a mamba 2200kV on a buggy/truggy right..?
you should have gone for 4600kV because the 2200kV is recommended only for the 1/8 monster trucks like E-Revo
4600kV is best suited for truggy's,even  made a mistake and bought a 7700kV thinkin that it will provide better performance

Been with Electric Conversions for a while.

Earlier had converted my Nanda NRB3 -R Pro from nitro to electric with the Novak HV Pro System.
Now have conveted my Mugen MBX6 to Electric with the Tekin RX8.

I find it very confusing to really unerstand the KV Rating of the motors from differrent brands.
Novak / Tekin / Castle have KV Ratings that are totally dift from each other while comparing in the same category.
Anyone have any experience on the same.

kv rating just determines rpm of the motor.what matters b/w different brands of motor having same kv and voltageis the torque they provide which varies greatly b/w different brands
(u can't compare a ezrun with a mamba maxx because although they have sae kv /rpm but they vary greatly i torque)

i have experience with castles only,
hey r mainly of two types
1)on road-e.g. 7700 kv
2)off road-e.g 2200kv(mamba monster maxx for monster trucks),4600kV (for buggy)

though the 7700 kv mamba and 4600 kv mamba for instance provide same torque but their requirements are different,
say both provide X Nm of torque, but the 7700 will need very high quality batteries for giving the same torque however 4600 kv will provide the same torque at much less battery discharges

Sometimes we are given a family of motors which is similar save for the KV. Now if you look at a generic motor family like the castle CM36 1/10th scale motors you can pretty much do the same thing with 7.4V / 7700KV that you can with 11.1V / 5700KV and 14.8V / 4400KV. But the latter will be the most efficient, it will run the coolest and run the longest.

For mid-power and low-power setups pull back the RPM to about half to 2/3rds of the max for that motor. For instance I have a set of monster trucks designed to reach 40-45mph running on grass when running their maximum of 6s LiPos. For a smaller field or a more relaxed drive, you can pull back to 4s LiPo. In that case, speed will max out around 32-35mph. Runtime will be better, or moreso, especially if you go by Watt-hours instead of Amp-hours (ie. 3s 4000mAH has the same watt-hours as 2s 6000mAH).

I know all of that!!! Have been in electrics for a while. My question is that whether someone around here has done comparisons between different brands in the same category.
For Instance: 1/8th Scale ---> Offroad
Motors from Tekin compared to Motors from Castle compared to Motors from Novak
How does one reason out against these options when there is no single determining criteria.
All have their different KV ratings
U say Casls 4600KV for buggy, but Tekin motors range from 1400 to 2650KV for buggies and the best of the lot being at 1700 and 1900 for normal racing.
Novak has their motors at 3400KV.
How does one decide in between brands.
Novak, Tekin and Castle are all top Brands with a lot of research and a lot of world championship wins.

they differ in their life, resistance etc

its kind of hard to actually tell which one is better.
what i can tell you is get these motors in your hand and test them yourself
