plane dimensions = fuse length =  61 inches
                                             wingspan    =  51 inches

hey guys finally a bit of time to share about all the action thats going on here.

started this project after being inspired by an ex-747 pilot (my neighbour uncle)

first of hats off to brett jones for designing this plan as scale and good as possible

thank you

http://www.parkjets.com/747/

well ok i have done a ton of mods but none to the basic model. the model as it is in the plans doesnot have polyhedral. other than that i have added landing gears plywood reinforcements and also the better edf mounts.

and yes all plywood attachments were done by 5-min epoxy. (very tough for an impatient guy like me.

electronics

servos - futaba standard ball bearing servos *4
sanwa standard servos * 4 = flaps and speed brakes
futaba standard one more for the massive landing gear retract which i one unique thing i designed

radio -  sanwa/airtronics rds 8000 8 channel 2.4 ghz radio

battery pack  -  2* turnigy 3s 11.1v 30c 2600 mAh lipo's

edf's  -    70mm * 4 edfs http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7887

had three so planning to use two of them here for the first test flight

for first flight the rest two pods will be left empty anyways the plans suggest the weight would be about 1.5 kgs but i am giving it extra power

after the first flight i will put in the rest two edf's which i have ordered from hobbycity for more scaleness

ESC's - 45 amp * 4

thats about all i am about to use here

build part I : wing

first off decided to finish the wing as it would be finished faster

day 1 - finished building the tiled plan from 21 pages of a4 size paper

day 2 - finished the two wing halves with ribs and plywood supports

day 3 - today finished joining the two wings with plywood strips and epoxy

also today i ordered 5 sheets each of 2mm and 3mm depron from pune and will probably get them by tomorrow or day after

and will finish sheeting the wing to get the airfoil and just about finish the wing oh and also plot the flaps, speed brake and aileron servo position and possible hing everything

so looking forward to finish the wing by day -5

following are the pics which i took throughout the build process here they are

hope you like them and please suggest i need all of it i can get

and look at the last pic where the wing nearly dwarfs my electric guitar

oh and i am going for the air india paint scheme

Build part II : the fuse

ok guys yesterday i burned the midnight oil and finished templating the fuselage a4 sheets that would form the full fuselage

it took me 3 hours

24 pages of a4 size sheets first of all margins traced and cut and then all of them were stuck together

if you think the wing was big wait until you see the fuse you will be blown away

this fuse my god is as big as meee

subbu

today will begin the fuse , wing sheeting will wait until the delivery of 2mm and 3mm depron sheets

Brilliant job! This is an awesome project and you are progressing rather rapidly. Its going to be fantastic seeing the 747 and the 380 flying together. All the very best Pickle and Gaurav!

alright how could you guys believe me staying off the 747 during my holidays  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

today i finished a lot of work i mean a ton of it

and yes this is day 4

Build part II : the fuselage (continued)

the upper half of the fuse is just about done

with all sheeting and everything the hump on the 747's fuse is the only sheeting part left

actually the hump is done but the end of the hump to the start of the straight section of the upper fuse is left to be sheeted

this is the part which i believe makes a 747 a 747

alright leaving to see the ipl match

here are the pics enjoy!!!

oh i have also yet to do the nose cone

and i have also just fitted a plywood strip below the fuse it is held by 3 drops of hot gule until i make proper incisions for it under the fuse

this was for the straightness of the fuse while sheeting

Coming up nicely   Hope you get lots of free time to work on completing this ASAP !

The tail is so big, I think even that needs some support as it is bent in one of the photos.

sandeepm

I suggest not to use hot glue too much, it will unnecessary increase the weight....and it will be difficult to sand also.....
Fly high if you have good set of batteries.....!

sorry sandeep uncle only place you i have noticeably use hot glue is the nose are as it had to be sheeted with strips of depron and i could not find anything more instant than that epoxy is used everywhere else.

i know the weight issue is a big one but i believe i will be within the range

the plane truly is big and every part is of course big

please everybody be there at airoli on this sunday as i probably will be glide testing this model and i need a lot lot lot of help.

so please be there

You Rock Subbu!! the fold on the fuse is real smooth ! Depron ain't ? what thick ?

Why didn't you use high density Thermocol for the hump ? they are easy to carve and sand to give much smoother shape. You could have scooped the block from inside to reduce weight afterwards.

Keep it posted. With 1 Plane (F-22) ready, one 70%(BLU Baby with L19 Birddog trim) and one in cut pieces (3DBatix Extra 330S), I feel its very tiring to write a build thread. Ya I can blabber 10 times on unrelated topics...

yes i am a depron guy and that sheeting is 3 mm depron

high desity thermocol is something i had thought of earlier but then availability and less experience with them made me go with depron also lack of a hot wire cutter as you get perfect shapes with that hot wire on a high density foam block.

hire me as your forum poster i will charge you only 1 plane per thread  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

anyways i love this rcindia forum as after pramod bhaiya and sai uncle rcindia was the first sort of any help and way to discuss with other fellow members and it is from here i found a ton of friends and hence love to post here and let everyone know what i am building or even help others
