I have been wanting to build a light weight, slow flying, simple to build and very stable plane that beginners would love to fly.

Here are the specifications:

Wingspan: 760mm
Fuse length: 550mm
Chord: 150mm

Please forgive me as the size of the model has nothing to do with the name of the model  :giggle: However, it's going to look like one.

It would be a low cg design. Benefits would be:

1. Very very stable.
2. Doesn't require landing gear (Beginner's nightmare.)

Disadvantage would be flying in windy conditions. Due to it's fuse design, it will be very sluggish to turn in windy conditions. Only maiden will tell the complete picture  ;D

Fuse material is 3mm biofoam laminated with clear tape.

Attached formers (7mm biofoam, width 20mm).

The other side of the fuse cut. This is not cut according to the dimension. Slightly excess is left.

Have used hot glue to glue the formers. However, will use Fevibond (rubber based adhesive) to glue the other side of the fuse as the area to be glued is large and hot glue will set soon.

As fevibond will eat foam, have taped the bare foam surface first and then have applied fevibond.

The other side is then glued and excess cut carefully.

@vishalrao,
This model is begging you for floats ;D
You can make it work as you demonstrated some months back. Just right for the monsoon...

That will give you a second Sweepstakes entry without building another model ;)
Regards.

@vishalrao,
In the test flight be prepared for inadequate directional stability, poor rudder response and dutch rolling (maybe severe)

This will be caused by too much side area ahead of the CG.
(This is what i faced with a deep bodied old timer type. Compounded by low power and tail heaviness ;D)

Best of luck.

196!!Wow
Vishal, I think you make them from papad  :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Suggest frying/roasting before use, to increase rigidity  ;D

Mission accomplished! Here's maiden video...

No bad tendencies. Turns well. Flew for about 7-8 minutes. Drained half the battery. Requires 5gm nose weight.

Here's another of me trying to catch it...
