Recently upgraded my Sky Surfer with -

1. 30 Amp ESC from the stock ESC (20 Amps)
2. 2200 KV motor from the stock motor
3. 6 x 4 propeller from the stock propeller (I think 5x3)

The performance of Sky Surfer increased drastically and to the extent that after the hand launch, on just 50% throttle it started to climb like a fast aircraft and kept on gaining height till about 500 feet at which I leveled it off and cut the throttle to 0 to let the plane glide. It was such a thrilling experience because though I had been flying Sky Surfer for quite sometime, I always felt that the stock motor was not enough and it took very long for the Sky Surfer to gain altitude. Though it was quite windy on my airfield that day, it took me almost 10 minutes or so to glide the Sky Surfer down, after which I once again powered up the aircraft and took it to almost the earlier height in a straight ascent to undertake some powered and unpowered maneuvers, all of which were performed by the Sky Surfer outstandingly...

Would post the pictures of the modifications made by me in my next post....till then happy landings, always...  :salute:

Sir,
Welcome to the Forum. Very good to know that your SKY SURFER is rocking hard, even I tested the same configuration after sending you the motor and It was a completely different plane after the upgrades.

Have fun

A Good pilot will practice until he gets it right,
A Great pilot will practice until he can't get it wrong.

Welcome @Microlightflyer sir. :) someone in my family do happen to know a person named Mr Vibhooti Singh. Are you in any way related to MNIT?

Microlightflyer

The one you are talking about is Mr. Vibhuti Singh Shekhawat from MNIT, whereas I'm Capt. Vibhooti Singh Deora, a Pilot in the business of selling Microlight aircraft and based at my private airfield near Shahpura, Jaipur.

Pls try Rctimer 2600kv Brushless Motor with a 6x4 sports prop 40amps ESC. Then this plane will give you some serious speed. Thats what we all are flyin, same setup for Bixler2 / Skysurfer2.

Recently I broke one of the wings of my sky surfer (1400 mm). Now I have got Hobbyking Bixler 2 EPO 1500mm. Would it be fine to install these wings on my Sky Surfer and the stock config would be sufficient for this?
