hey there guys,
I bought a Great Planes yak 54  25% in jan 2010 from Bangkok and finally got it assembled and in the air about a month ago.
my setup is as follows:

Great Planes Yak 54 25% ARF
with
DLE 55cc
Futaba 9CAP (Changing to 2.4 futaba 10CG)
HiTech HS-7955TG (rudder, elevator and aileron )
HiTech HS-325HB (throttle)
2 Battery setup
2 X 2000Nimh Mah
and ignition 2000Mah Nicd

Now.... is there anyone who has the same aircraft on this forum?? if yes then what is your setup and what do you have to say about this plane?
i have flown it quite a few times and now starts the head-banging process of trimming it close to perfection.
i have also noticed that the landing gear is way too soft and am on the verge of ordering carbon landing gears for it.

i will upload some pics of it in the evening and also make a video of its flight today on the field...

looking forward to any suggestions and discussions on this thread...
regards
Aaron

doc....
there is tuns to discuss.
for one, i would like to know if someone already has some experience with this airframe.

the other is if someone can guide me through the trimming of the plane. I have read various trimming charts. I cant really see a difference at the moment. yes in the beginning the right thrust was way too much and that is finally straightened out. but yesterday the plane was wing dropping while in inverted and i dont really think that i was going that slow for it to stall. :headscratch:
and i am really thinking shifting the tank back a bit above the wing pipe...
i need suggestions.

Shifting the tank back doesn't seem to be a good idea as 1 it will change the CG and 2 ur plane does not have any place over or under the wing tube for the tank to be put.
Just give it time and patience. Time love and tenderness, that's what ur beauty needs. Relax and fly.

if the tank is above the wing pipe there will be less variable during the flight. i mean to say that as the fuel gets less the nose gets lighter. but i havnt really noticed any difference during flight, so i cant really say. :headscratch:

im talking about something like in this picture.  :help:
