Hi Guys,

This is the new mod that I Came up with for the Hobby King Gyro http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10113 and its working Cool! The tail Holds like a branded Gyro - ROCK SOLID for hovering FFF etc, though not recommended for 3D. Great for beginners.

Why do you need this?

The circuit inside this gyro is not glued. Its just held in place with 2 hard foam pads. Some times the vibrations from the heli might vibrate this circuit and might confuse the circuit. So you need to reduce the vibrations going to the circuit as well as HOLD the circuit in its place.

DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Here is what you need.
1)Latex foam and sponge. (The white Foam I used was hobbico latex foam for receivers, got from tower hobbies.)
2)Small philip screw driver.
3)scissors.

I am attaching the photos for the same with explanation.

1)Photo 1: Open up the Gyro and remove the black pads. They transfer lot of vibrations to the circuit. Cut the latex foam to the size of the Gyro.

2)Photo 2: If the foam is thick, tear it into half like I did in the pic, or Use 2 different foam pieces if they are thin.

3)Photo 3: Cut some holes in the foam where the control surfaces are to be exposed and insert it into the Gyro.

4)Photo 4: Place the circuit back. Make sure it is LEVEL to the top of the Gyro. I mean the foam that you just put in the Gyro should be uniformly thick. And Note that the circuit at the perpendicular joints are fragile. You may want to put some hot glue from the inside to make it sturdier, but I did not feel the need to do so. Start Stuffing small pieces of sponge around the circuit.

5)Photo 5: Stuff some sponge inside as well. Make sure you tear the sponge into small pieces and stuff it. It becomes easier. Stuff enough sponge so that the vibrations should not drift the circuit inside. And DONT stuff toooo much of it as it transfers the vibrations to the circuit, It will spoil the whole purpose of this mod. Put the other half of latex foam on this and close the bottom cap. Make sure you remove the black hard pads that came with the Gyro before closing.

7)I use 2 Layers of HobbyCity foam pads and then mount the Gyro on the bottom tray of the HK450. There is lots of vibrations on the tail boom block, so I avoid mounting the Gyro there.
