Has anyone ever individually tried to get approval/licence for their 2.4 GHz radio from WPC. If so Kindly share your experience

hi,

radio licensing is now history. wpc has already approved radios upto 1 watt licence free. as long as you do not transmit voice. you have nothing to worry.

we are already using low watt radios and 2.4ghz is legal. its only the equipment type approval is needed by the seller i.e the equipment has to be certified not the frequency.

btw why u asking?

Why are sellers advertising RESPECT THE LAW ETC. I think we all have had experiences of being bothered by cops regarding use of radios

Hi Bill...
you can get the WPC approvals for your personal use ... you just need to have patience with authorities there... yes 2.4Ghz is a delicensed frequency but the authorities at WPC have to state that this is 2.4Ghz and you have to prove it to them.. this is when you get a ETA (equipment type approval) and post this you will have to apply for a special import licence... its a very long process which "might" take 3-6 months if not more (we took around a year to get the same for RcBazaar)...

Thank you Anwar. I was sure that it must be previously discussed but looking for more than a day in different forums here, it was llittle hard to get those reply so i raised those questions here. any ways, thanks again.

more one thing, is it true that only specific radios of specific manufacturers are approved to use in India by WPC? i mean, can i import-order from any trusted brand of radio/rc manufacturer?

I have compiled List of Radios having ETA from WPC. The information was obtained using the site below;
http://210.212.79.13/udefault.asp

Please read the various threads in our forum about ETA and who can import etc.

Thanks,

I still see a lot of things are not mentioned in the list and some people claim they import legally with all the WPC norms.
