The Jakkur airfield is the primary location for RC activity in Bangalore.  One has to get an aeromodeler identification card from the authorities though.

Lots of action every Sunday morning.

We've presently been stopped from using the Jakkur airfield from the Jakkur authorities for the reasons best known to them.
Hopefully this will be resolved shortly.
Will update very soon

Adarsh

Adarsh -  Kindly post alternate locations, if you are aware of them (better to post in a new thread/topic for each such location).

Hi Guys, i was walking through GKVK [opp jakkur airstrip] and saw that the ground there is about ~2sqkm area. one circle to it will be about 600mt.  thought that since people are allowed to use it freely, maybe you guys could shift ur location from jakkur to this place?
i don't know this hobby, but am starting off soon.  :)

Is Jakkur open again, with more controlled access ?

So what are the new restrictions ?  Can people without the "aeromodeller card" not enter the field at all any more ?

You certainly cannot fly without a card. Cops are expected to be the prowl for people without cards. There is a visitor card scheme for visitors.

anwar

Thanks for the update.

And people can fly on a visitor card ?  Or is it just for visiting the field ?

Looking for an update on this.  What does the visitor card allow one to do, and how easy (or difficult) is it to get a visitor card ?

Yup, my question exactly.

Also, any one know of flying field(s) at south Bangalore. There are lot of "fields" on the way to electronic city but not sure how usable (ppl complaining) these are. Any one flying this side of Bangalore?? ???

vinay

Hi,

Can some body please tell the steps to get an ID card for flying at Jakkur, I heard its 1000 rs DD per year,
But whom should I primarily contact to register? ???

Help is very much required and greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

anwar

Strange that we have more members here from Bangalore than any other city, yet no one is responding to questions about Jakkur  :headscratch:

Didn't check but can we keep a mega list of RC-flying (and driving) fields similar to the list of RC outlets.

anwar

I was hoping that the entire "RC Locations" board would serve that purpose, with each post representing a line in the mega list you suggested.

Hi all,

the thread is very specific about requirements to fly, thanks for that. Are there any requirements to come as a visitor?

I intend to get into heli RCs but before I shell out money I'd love to spend some time with you guys and pick your brains about what to buy (I'm thinking single rotor 4CH right now) and where, availability of spares etc.

I stay close to the old airport so getting to Jakkur only to find out that I can't get in touch with you guys or no one is there would be quite sad.

Will anyone be in Jakkur this upcoming Sunday 15th August?

Take care,
Dominique

RotorZone

There are no requirements for a visitor, just tag along with a flier and you'll be taken care of in case the cops come checking. Give me a call if you need help.

I don't recall a single sunday morning when there was nobody at the field. You'll find somebody there for sure. The distance might seem long to you now, but once the aeromodeling bug bites you, you'll be looking forward to it. People come from much farther away every weekend. I myself drive from old airport rd and outer ring rd intersection.

saloon12yrd

Thanks for the reply. Sounds good! So I see you on Sunday.
Distance is fine for me as long as something happens at Jakkur by the way... I love riding my bike ;)

Take care,
Dominique

Cool! Another Heli Freak!  ;D Welcome Dominique to RCI. BTW, if you are serious abt RC, its better you consider getting into a 6 Channel heli. If Rajesh(RotorZone) is going to jakkur this week end, then better stay with him, Nice guy and will help you out. I wish I could come to jakkur, but I am busy for few more weeks.

Guess you have not searched the forum enough :) You can contact RCI member "adarsh007" via PM regarding Jakkur access/membership. Please search for beginner models on the forum, and their availability.

Once again, welcome to RC India !
