the thing is , mostly, the parcels get cleared, ive ordered lasers diodes and many electronics stuff from US / CHINA / hongkong based websites. what happens here is very less people post here saying their parcel is successfully cleared. because most of the time, we see here are the problematic reports as Vinay said, ..

It has become very difficult to track the packages current position in India. I have visited the local FPO and they told me that they are relaying  on IPS website for update of package status. Due to the down time of IPS website they are keeping records of all inbound packages in papers and in excel formats. So there will be some delay.

Hello everyone...Iam planning to buy some stuffs from hobbyking. My friend  is in china..so shall i ask him to buy that stuffs an get it once he is back to india so that shipping cost and customs hassles will be reduced..Is it a good idea?

Did they email or post you any document and reason for detention
Without that they cannot detain it
Does the status on tracking website say detained or retained ?
If retained then you will be charged custom duty and get the parcel

No letter or mail till date.. And tracking sites (http://ipsweb.ptcmysore.gov.in/ipswebtracking/) are down.. Currently no info about my parcel..      EE186040214FJ..

Hi I saw this Ad with hobby king selling aircrafts to India, they have metioned price of the aircrfats plus courier charges do we need to pay customs too for the products has any one purchsed from hobby king as they have good variety of aero models.

Well I realised that once the items have reached the Customs... they will ultimately clear it though with a delay of a few days.  For every purchase of over Rs 10,000 you can expect a Customs duty of 30% because each time I did that they put the same duty on my items.  Further asking HL or other seller to ship by Speed post is of no significance as the customs will take its own time and the items will be delivered in a time of 20 days to 40 days. SO got for plain registored post..... and same of overall cost and also escape Customs duty (because Rs 10,000/- = cost of purchase + Shipping).

Hie everyone.. A good news.. Don't know why... I received my parcel DUTY FREE... Parcel is of around ₹28,000.. But no customs duty was charged.. And tx/rx came too.. From chennai customs.. Thank you all and thank u god!!!!
