Most of my parcels experienced such delays recently. May be due to holiday backlog. Once it leaves HK, you must expect it within 10 days or so.

Well seems like HK is no longer offering a freebie for a 100$ cart
i asked them and they told that the freebie appears randomly, wth!
cheap HK tactics,
before when i used to simply check for new items and add them to my cart i used to get the freebie offer, but now when i really am gonna order a parcel worth 100$(guys im ordering the HK Bixler RTF through air parcel) no freebie, could anyone be any more unluckier?

Me new in here, all i want to know is i have a shipment, with around $208 worth. Now this was reached in Mumbai on Sunday but stucked with customs since then.

All i want to know is do i have to pay custom duty? if yes then how much. Or else do you take sometime before clearing stuffs??

If you are ordering a RTF Bixler then it is 100% going to be detained by the Mumbai customs because:
1. It will be shipped through EMS only by HK because of the parcel size
2. It will have a Transmitter which is a restricted item as per India customs
3. It will also have a Glider which flies (obviously) but the customs will treat it as a airplane which again is restricted item
4. They will ask you to send all sorts of documents like Invoice, IEC, Reason for Import, NOC from Telecom Department, etc.

I am saying this so confidently because I also had ordered an RTF Bixler from HK in December which has been detained by Mumbai customs since then till date.

I have sent them all sorts of documents but they have still not released my parcel.

I also tried to get it released through a agent by bribing but then they asked Rs. 20,000/- as bribe and said that after that also I will have to pay 43% duty when the parcel reaches me which is not worth.

I was shocked when I heard Rs. 20,000/- bribe for a Rs. 6000/- glider + 43% duty?

Now you can decide for yourself, are you up for all this headache and wait for a freebie?

And who's unlucky in this case? You or me?

I would also suggest its better off to pay a bit more at a LHS instead of ordering it from HK, atleast the models and transmitters. But HK is still good source for ordering spares and parts separately.

BTW Whom did you send the documents to?
From what I have heard, you need to send the invoice, paypal transaction slip (in case of paypal) and covering letter to Asst Commissioner of Customs, SpeedPost Center, Mumbai by mail.
On receipt, they will inspect and usually release in 3-4 days with the duty as applicable.
But since this a RTF kit - it might have caused the problems.

I have sent the following documents to the Asst. Commissioner of Customs (Import) Mumbai:

  • EMS parcel bearing BY No. ***/** letter copy
  • Purchase invoice copy (HK invoice and Credit Card copy with last four numbers only visible)
  • ID Proof:
       o Passport copy (personal ID)
       o Company ID card (working ID)
  • Transceiver model number with frequency used by the transceiver
  • Copy of approved transceiver model number by WPC
  • Copy of National Frequency Allocation Plan – 2011 released by WPC - (reference purpose only)
  • Copy of G.S.R 45 (E) dated 28-Janyary-2005 - (reference purpose only)

I had sent these documents through registered post so that I could track and know if the documents were delivered or not.

Infact I had sent these documents to the Asst. Joint Adviser WPC also requesting for a NOC but no response till date.

Let me know if I am missing something or if there is any other way out to get my parcel cleared without any bribing atleast.

I am not so sure, but did they ask you for all these documents?

If not, then try sending again the following (through Speed or Register Mail preferrably)
1. Paypal transaction slip (this is most imp since it contains all the required details like the sender, receiver details, amount, date, address etc)
2. Covering Letter

In the letter, mention the EMS tracking # and BY number. Also mention the contents of the parcel and that it is being imported for personal use and request them kindly to clear it.

You don't have to be very technical when specifying the contents - just general.
For example - Ready to fly outdoor Glider with Remote (something like this)

I had sent the same information you have provided.

After that I spoke to them and they confirmed that they received the invoice copy and other documents requested by because the parcel has a transmitter, they asked to send the information.

Then I sent the Tx information with WPC approval copy for that Tx.

Then they asked for a NOC from Asst. Joint Adviser.

I had sent all the requested documents from time to time through registered speed post and then after the documents were delivered, I called them after a week and they confirmed they got the documents.

But still the parcel is detained and not released yet.

I had sent the documents to the same address furnished by you in the post.

Now I am thinking that I should visit them personally and that might work.

Hmm ok - its unfortunate   They are doing all this just to get the bribe.
Had it been a Courier like UPS or DHL - this same parcel would have been cleared in a second.

Feel HK should give courier option too since EMS and UPS/DHL rates are almost same from Hongkong to India.

Guys i have finally got to know that they have hold up my parcel at it contains Tx&Rx

Now what to do in such case??? How can i get the shipment through them?

It is clear now that there is a Tx and a Rx.

What else? Is it a RTF plane or glider or helicopter?

If it is a Helicopter, then brother, its best you forget it or simply go and pay a heavy bribe and then it could be released with again a heavy Duty that you will have to pay. 43% duty.....

Helicopters are 100% NO NO..... even if it is a kit leave apart a RTF

But quadcopter, but then also it was brushless motors, ESC, props, some connectors. Lipo's and Tx and Rx

They do not understand the difference between a airplane and a glider and a helicopter.

During my talks with them on calls, even though I said mine is a foam glider they kept asking is it a plane or a helicopter.

Now when you say its a quadcopter, they will assume it a helicopter though it is a electric.

Quadcopter sounds like helicopter (copter is same in both) for them and will assume you are saying a new word but it is a helicopter.

I agree to xxkrishxx, you can demand the customs people to send the parcel back to the seller but even for that, I suggest you wait till you get a letter from them and then depending on what type of documents they ask, you can analyze and then demand them to return it back to the seller.

One important thing, do read the terms and conditions of HK about their return policy before you ask the customs to return the parcel back.
