The engine is basically an opposed piston engine.... so it comes with all the benefits that these engines have. The main being high thermal efficiency.

Please have a look at the other type of opposed piston engines that have been made.

A very notable engine of this type, which is also in the delta configuration is the ""Napier Deltic"".
If you look at the construction of this engine in detail, you will notice that to get a smooth firing order (i.e. all cylinders fire at equal intervals from each other), you need to have at least three (or multiples of three) banks of cylinders.
That means you need to have at least 9, 18 and (so on) number of cylinders. [so in terms of pistons, it is 18, 36,.....] So you get an idea of how huge and complicated that gets.
By InterLacing the cylinders, I can get away with that and use just one bank of cylinders.

There are other opposed piston engines like Fairbanks, Junkers, Achates (a more recent one) and many more. If you see these, a supercharger is an absolute necessity in these engines.
My engine does not rely on a Supercharger (although it would be a benefit to add one, it is not an absolute requirement)."

Good work buddy. Nice and unique. Good to see it firing. This reminds me of my favorite Wankle engine btw.

Did you measures the compression ratio (design Vs achieved) and have you plotted the torque Vs speed and Power Vs torque chart? What cc are the single engine?
I see the outer wheel is acting as a first gearbox as well as flywheel?
You did mentioned the thermal efficiency as an advantage. That made me curious as I always kind of looked IC engines with a Q mark, like why you guys are at like 35% efficiency number. what's the number here?

Regarding the queries that you have.... please go through the description of the video in Youtube (specially the end part).... you will get the answer to most of them..!!

No, it does not act as the flywheel (although it does have a secondary effect). It would put a lot of stress on the gear teeth).... the flywheel mass is integral with the crankshaft.

I had spent hours studying you patent papers.
If I recall, what puzzled me then, was that the cylinders seemed to be not in the same plane. Is that how it was originally? Or I'm imagining it.

Now of course I can see that conrods must be off centre on the gudgeon...
Have to think more...

Yes Iyer ji, it is that way only...... both.... in the papers.... and here also...!!

No... the conrods have to be in the centre (just like any other engine).... putting them off centre will put a lot of bending moment on the gudgeon and the rod.

I have used Hall Effect sensors.... (try to make out the back side of the arc shaped board seen at 2:35).
The magnets are placed in the black things on the outer wheel.

Iyer Ji, this is how the actual piston, gudgeon and conrod are like.
