Please do not mind if I am asking this question, since the surface seems to be wavey like a wire cut EPP and the edge is also seen not absolutely straight as a 4-5 mm depron is to be. further the thickness also does not seems to be constant as a depron sheet is supposed to be.

By the looks of it it looks like a hot wire cut high density EPP. Are you sure it is Depron?

Dhiraj, please pardon me! but the last picture suggest that its Not D.E.P.R.O.N  - its not even Bio-Foam. The bend/crease by the weight of other sheet shows it is even softer and flexible than Biofoam. Depron is bit stronger (more compacted/closed chambered) foam than BioFoam.

I would request some senior to come up who has actually used both, whom dhiraj may send at least a A4 sized sample.

Many people have confessed that they have wasted money on wrong kind of foam.

i too have these sheets with me and is Bio foam or Depron Only. the bend/crease is commonly seen in these sheets, but i confirm that these sheets are Bio foam only..but i think that these are little bit costly.....

It looks like Depron (Bio foam) alright. I checked out my sheets and they too have this strange optical illusion bars. However, when you hold it flat against the light, you see a very smooth surface.

Prices are way too high. I am getting 8 mm sheets 100 cm X 50 cm at Guwahati @ Rs.50/-

Don't you think the prices are a bit high? And is this real Depron or something else. What's the difference between Depron and Biofoam? Are they both the same?

the revised prices for biofoam are:↲2mm 80 rs.↲3mm 100 rs.↲10mm 120 rs.  ↲The prices of biofoam or u can say indian version of depron are high becouse of it's unavilabality  in india .↲therefore  this one of the reason .↲If u place ur order in bulk certain discount will be given

I thought I had shared this info I came across some time ago.. here it is again;

EPP is different to Depron. Epp sheets are being sold at UK websites for £8.00GBP sterling per 1000 x 600mm sheet.
Whereas Depron is sold for approx £ 3  for a 2mm or 3mm sheet to £5 for a 6mm or 8mm sheet with discounts on bulk purchases.
If any one wants Depron, I can provide a few addresses who will sell bulk at wholesale prices. BEAR IN MIND... Carriage will be around £100 for a full box.
Ramesh recently paid 40 US Dollars for postage on 4 sheets I think.

What is Depron®  
Depron board is an extremely thin insulation sheet manufactured from fully recycled material, free from freon and halogen.  The sheet is produced from foamed polystyrene, a material that does not age. The cell structure in the sheet is built up of fine, closed cells that give it its excellent physical and mechanical characteristics.

The material in question that you guys are talking about is BIOPACK, I am certain. Till you have a Depron sheet, I think it is hard to tell the difference in photos.

these sheets looks like upholstery sheets i have brought these sheet's of 12mm  2feet long for rs 80
and they do look similar but im not sure the material posted by dhirajjadhaodhiraj
is depron im a newbie so i cant say much about the sheets that are posted on this blog ill add pics of upholstery sheet

Why not try to build something out of it (possibly with tape to reinforce the outsides), and see how it fares ?  If it is harder than sponge (needs some pressure to bend etc), it should work

i have made a jet plane out of upholster sheet these sheets are spongy and with the help of glass fiber when applied on it becomes stiff and sturdy and these foams are cheap and locally available at all mattress stores and a carbon spar is a must for the wing span

Mr Rao, That is not depron, it is just packaging foam, Bio pack is much better.
It is stiff and you can build planes with it without having to use any covering or stiffeners. Yes wing support of carbon rod is always recommended to avoid wings folding by air pressure underneath and weight of plane against wind.

Biopack is a stiff sheet like a thin sheet of polystyrene/ thermocole. It does not bend that easily though it can be curved. You are in Mumbai, why dont you visit;
