I use exactly the same technique; have never spent more than 1 minute on one Z- bent :)

Why use Z bend.
Use push rod snap on link, hassle free.

There are many other options available as well from Robart, Sullivan, Harry Higley, Great planes, and Hayes etc., in different flavours, like ball joints, clevises, Screw ball links etc. list is endless. And these are available in nylon, Aluminum, copper, steel etc. for different requirements. But making a Z bend is a essential art(IMO). And thought to be sufficient for small to medium planes.

Apart from that a Z bend will never slip off, with all other methods you have to still live with uncertanities (however remote it may be).
IMHO Z bend is the best method to attach the push rod to the servo arm
If you are really into scale you should be here. www.rcscalebuilder.com
