Hello everyone,
I received my Turnigy 5000 mAh 3S LiPo battery today. I must say after looking at the 1.8 Ah pack, this is total awe :salute:. I am intending to use it in my Quadcopter, The Motors rating are 1800 kV brushless outrunner and 20A esc's. Are all the specifications in coherence ?. Also where could i avail the female connector counterparts for this colossal pack. According to my measurements, i suppose i will be needing 5 mm JST plugs.. Please guide me on this :)
Do you mean 5mm bullet connectors? JST plug is a type of battery connector.
5mm Bullet connector for 20A esc and motor :headscratch: No way :giggle:
I think You meant to say about the JST plug coming out from battery right?
5mm Is the most common JST plug.. But I will recommend to use XT60 instead of that and be safe..
JST plugs can handle about 8 amps max. Anymore you risk ovreheating the plug and thin wires.
@Arun Sir and theleabres,
Yes, i meant the JST plug coming out of the battery. If i use XT60 connectors i wil have to resolder the new connectors, will it hamper the current flow ? Any female substitute of the genuine JST plug ? Also where could i get wires for the same rating. I am enclosing the pics of the connector and battery
It is 5.5mm bullet connector ,go buy 5.5mm bullet male connectors
Or use XT60 Which you can get from indian websites itself..
And what is the Trouble with silly soldering..? :headscratch:
Thank you :) will do as you suggested. I was wondering, if the soldering was not uniform it might cause charge accumulation.. How about the wires ?

That looks like what is called a banana plug. It connects to the ESC with one male and one female connector.

Thank you Arun for the video, it was helpful. Any idea, where i can get my hands in India on the Turnigy 10 or 17 AWG wire ?

Thank you Arun sir, you have been very patient and helpful :)
You are welcome Abhishek... :)
You do not need expensive silicone wires. A 3 to 3.5sqmm wire from a local electronics shop will also suffice. This is what i have on my quad running a zippy 5000mAh 45c Lipo. Also, the 5.5mm stock bullet connectors are very diff to the ones available here. The 5.5 ones that i got from RCB do not fit at all. Got a pack from HK itself. Also, XT-60 is rated to handle currents of upto 60-70A(pls correct me if i am wrong) while the max constant current available is 5Ah*25c equals 125amp. IMHO, KEEP THE STOCK BULLETS ON as changing the connectors will not help u exploit the full potential of this lipo. Cheers!
Sir,
I needed the connectors, as i am doing this as a part of my final year project. Do you have two connectors in spare. It would be greatly appreciated. I believe, a shipment from HK will take a month more, :)-
Usually, you don't change the battery connectors. Usually, you find the connectors that match the battery and attach those connectors to the ESC.
Contact hobbysea. He has connectors as well as a deans plugs (pairs).
It would be helpful if you can put up the link. Is the product id T5000.3s.25? If it is, then it has 4mm bullets. What i have are 5.5mm ones. If you are willing to solder these both on your battery and esc, pm me your address and i'll send u 2 pairs. Cheers!
