Well after a long time i have done something new ......again best out of waste....ahaaaa..not waste...but used in different way..
I have converted a old laptop batter pack to a conventional pack which can be charged externally using our conventionl LiPo charger. the capacity of this 11.1 V packis around 4.1Ah.... 11.1 v out put is Dean connector only but i am not getting place to use it as it is quiet heavy.....
Here is the pic...not too clean build but still...........
Fly high if you have good set of batteries.....!

I dont know about the IBM pack but DELL battery packs actually have 6 AA sized batteries in them. (thats it!) It can be removed and used as normal batteries :) Several videos about the same on YouTube.

Most of the Battery pack which have a configuration of 6 cell and 9 cell pack. they have a common connection diagram
2 cell are connected in parallel for more Ah capacity and three sets of parallel in series making at at 11.1 volt pack
my IBM pack have 3.7 volt Li-ion 2.2 Ah cell when connecyed inparallel it becomes 4.4 Ah and when three sets in parallel it comes to standard 11.1 Volt configuration. rest charging balancer connector will remain same as normal Li-po packs.

how are the balance wires connected? does one go between each cell (or pair of cells in this case) ?

any LHS selling them?
Money flies when the transmitter is ON...

KALYANPRODHAN

They are sold in Electronics spare Shops.

Just ask for 0.1" spaced 3 or 4 terminal (FOR 2S OR 3S) connector. or keep any connector  to show in shop.

I have an old hp laptop which crashed !
Can you help me convert the laptop battery to a usable one for flying ?

KALYANPRODHAN

Laptop battery C rating to be checked so as to match the discharge current. Then only you can use as flight pack. Else you can use as Tx/Rx pack where C capacity required, is not so high. Generally old laptops are with NiMH/Li-ion cells of no use as flight pack.

Good Luck.

I too have the same and i charge it with my balanced charger .... since it is Li-ion and heavy i use it to test my planes and tx system on ground rather than the normal lipo.

or i have used 7.4V in a toy remote car..... or u can buy a 11.1Volt to USB converter ( available on HK) and use it to charge your mobile, MP3 etc. etc....

serchingeye

if any one want these batteries individually and new, u can contact me, i have them.. those are multipurpose. no need to break laptop batteries. u can get brand new, samsung brand batteries. 3.7v 2600mah batteries at approx 350 to 400rs. u can connect them in series and parallel to get ur desired voltage.

i bought them in bulk (import) to save cost. so i m sharing it with u all.  i have charger also for these by USB.

Cpt_Rajesh

The USB charger is balance charger?
And those delivering 2600mah?
Or practical value is different?
