Title: discharging the voltage in lipo batteries
Post by: aravindrcquad on May 29, 2015, 08:35:05 AM
hi guyz im planning to buy 22.2v lipo  and im mainly into manual robotics
i can use this battery for some dc motors rated upto 24V but in case if i need it to use  that battery for some  motors whose rated voltage is 12V . i need to discharge them to 11.1v and use it for my purpose and i want to know whether regular discharging affects my battery life  and can it be done?? and by discharging whether current in my battery getz discharged??

Till each cell remains at or above 3.5 V constantly then it wont be a issue , discharge them below 3.5 and you will start getting in the danger zone . If a lipo goes bellow 3.0v you can kiss it a good bye . So 3.5 * 6 = 21v , for applications of around 11.1 - 12.2 v get a 3s , they are cheap at around a 1000 rs mark .
