It's called a multimeter. It's probably written on the case.  8-)

It would've been easier for you to search for a wattmeter on Google or the forum and you'd have found your answer. I've said this and will say it again, take the time to search before creating a new thread.

This is called Google => https://www.google.co.in/

you type a question here, and you magically get an answer, usually in 0.26 seconds.
Please try it sometimes...

@rcrnitesh
What your photos show does not look like a watt meter.
It doesn't look like ANYTHING, as you have not shown the object in light.
Try to avoid putting stuff like this on the forum, as it wastes everyone's time.
If you really wanted to know, you could have gone to hobbyking site and searched for wattmeter.
Sorry to say so, but this thread is childish. Try to avoid in future.
Pl take comments in the spirit they are offered, and do not get offended.
Regards.

Yes it looks like a wattmeter as long as you can measure voltage across, and current passing through (which cannot be greater than 10A in the case of the multimeter in the picture); and then multiply the two values to get an estimate of the watts being consumed.
If that entices some curiosity, I am hopeful you'll come across a wattmeter pretty soon and be able to identify it yourself ;)

@girishsarwal
You forgot to mention CLOCK, required for multiplying to see how much of the battery was consumed ;D

your topic title should have been What Meter ;D

here are somewatt meters  :rofl:

haha rcnitesh, you should have googled it before posting it, questions get repeated again and again.

yup it should have been written on the multimeter that what it is.

Multimeter cannot be used as a wattmeter in RC use as the most of the time, the amp rating is above 10 amps. So you need special meters as mentioned in #6. I myself am using HK-010 that can take upto 6S and 100W. I have not exceeded 70

Actually you can use a multimeter as a watt meter using a shunt.

I'll  leave it to Girish to do the explaining

girishsarwal

Hahaha Saikat sir, you leave the hard parts to me ;).

As long as the shunt resistor is chosen to be a very low value, to ensure a *significant* voltage divider does not come into effect, it can be put inline to measure current via voltage drop (I = V/R, where R is the resistance of the shunt). That would also mean, the current carrying capacity of the resistance should be very high for achieving measurements without using the 10A limited line on the mm. A short piece of thick wire? Perfect shunt with low ohm, high wattage, as long as the resistance (R) of this wire can be accurately measured. We have I and we have V. Multiply and we have power. Not a precise instrument, and not a fancy one either, and mathematics required, but will give a decent estimate

Unless Nitesh intended to give the community food for thought, reply #6 seems the most plausible way to go ;)

Anyone interested in a DIY Atmega based wattmeter with a LCD display?

I am! I was looking to build an ammeter+watt meter uisng a non-contact current sensor with Arduino, I could use your help! :D

@girish sir- do you know any DIY to make a brushed motor controller for controlling 5A motor with reverse?

Anjanbabu lets come up with something cool for the rc community ;)

Rahul I havent tried thay as yet...I have about 31 projects to finish before I can take up more ;) but surr lets think about it

Rahul I have one :D Only its 20A with reverse. But the problem I am facing is its size. I cannot seem to get it below 2inch cube. I am waiting on some parts right now(High power diodes and heatsinks).  I will post on rci once I am finished with it. :)

@rcrcnitesh Since you always use your webcam to take the pictures, do it while facing the tubelight. The light in the background makes it difficult for us to see clearly.

Why didn't you mention this before? :violent: I ordered one from HK, after my failed attempts to make one.

Girish, by this evening there should be only 30! So you can go ahead and restore the equanimity :D :D
