When you are just getting started into this hobby, it's tempting to cut costs and go for the bare minimums. One such area is charger. Most beginners opt for compact balance chargers that cost around Rs. 500 or so. Even I had done the same thing. However, within a year or so into the hobby, you soon realize that a good multi-functional balance charger is a must. Not only can they charge different types of batteries (Lipo, Life, Nimh, Nicd), the most useful function they have is the "storage mode" for storing Lipos. Lipo batteries can get damaged if they are stored for a long time either fully charged or fully discharged. Unfortunately, none of the compact chargers have this storage mode function. They have indicators only for "fully charged".

Multi functional balance chargers cost Rs. 2500 onwards. However, taking into consideration the cost of the Lipo, investing in a multi-functional balance charger makes lot of sense. Don't be penny wise pound foolish.

Thanks Arun :) While it's easy enough to compile a list, it doesn't justify itself unless backed by proper reviews. I think a poll would be a good starting point. Will put up shortly.

A poll would actually be great and will suggest true user experience. :) great writeup Vishal brother. :)
