Hi,I have short circuited my Lipo due to wrong connection with the ESC,its too not charging. I think it's dead, any idea how to get it back ???:banghead:

Use a cell checker to check health status of individual cells.

It's a $3 item from Hobbysea

Nagaraju

From next time use T-plugs to conect ESC and lipo

Even i made the same mistake of soldering xt connector the other way on an esc,and when i connected the battery smoke started emitting at the terminals which caused a high discharge. I quickly removed it. when i checked the esc,it was still working. The battery also got really warm. And i have had 2-3 flights with the same battery. But the esc failed during flight which costed me a plane  :banghead:.The battery is fine at the moment, but slightly degrading. So not gonna use it for flight anymore.

hey muradshak, but I have an opposite case here,my ESC is alright and the battery z dead.I just saw a little spark.

How do you know the battery is dead?
I really suggest you to use a battery checker. It is available with adiboy

Shyam Hembram

I used a dc motor to test the battery,it din't run when connected across the battery, which shows that it's dead.

at last I got some ways to check the cells,  the middle cell is dead showing 0 volts other two cell shows 4.15V each with help me multimeter.
can anybody help me out with pictures on how to open those cells.

No No ...Please do not open the cells..I would not recommend that.

If you have a programmable charger then use it to recover the lost cell. and you can so that by charging the battery on NIMH mode on 0.1 amps till you see the voltage move from 6 to 9 volts as a total then you can shift back to Lipo mode on the charger.

If you don't have a programable charger, see if someone in your area does and try the above method.

Helis and Quads ROCK !!

what if there is a broken connection,  the programmable charger won't be of any use and I don't think anybody here has the charger :-(

If it is showing 0 v, most likely the cell is dead and beyond recovery, however it doesnt hurt zapping the cell to see if it can be recovered (Actually, it reaaaally hurts, if that is not done with care).
To see if you can recover, you can cut the heatshrink cover using a scissor, taking care not to puncture any of the cell.

Once you've removed the cover, you will see something similar as shown in the pic.

1. Check continuity between points BD and CF
2. If continuity exists, check for voltage between points AB, CD and EF.
3. If any cell shows 0v, isolate the cell by desoldering, and charge the cell separately on the NiMH mode (also known as zapping).
4. If the cell recovers, solder it back, *taking care of polarity*
5. If the cell does not recover, dispose it off (google search for how to safely dispose off Lithium batteries), and solder the good cells together to get a 2S battery which can be used elsewhere.
6. Use packaging tape and double sided foam tape to make a cover, or else if you can get heatshrink tube that wide. Leave some spaces for ventilation.

Hope that helps.

 :salute: :hatsoff:
Am much happy to get my Lipo back, costed me about an hour and a spark, initially I was very frightened but all went good
All cells shows about 4.3V.One of the connection in the middle cell was broken which was not so hard to mend
