Title: input voltage error..

Since yesterday my charger is giving an error 'input voltage error' i have been connecting it through a laptop charger ... n using it from since 2 years . Do i have to buy a new charger ?

reduce the ampere for charging to 0.1 A and keep increasing it till you reach the input voltage error again, that is the max amp for your power supply. charge at less amp than that. this should sort out your problem hopefully

I know what the problem is..it will go only if you gift me an acromaster :)

and on a slightly serious note..try using some other input..may be car battery..some other adapter etc and if the problem persists gift me a funjet too :P

I tried what you suggested and it worked. Thanks a ton, sir.

PS: HK says that pack can be charged at 1.5A or less, but if I charger at 1A or more I get this "Input voltage ERR"

Input voltage error does not depend on the battery you are charging but on the current you are trying to charge the battery at. HK chargers work on 10 to 18v. If you draw more amperes than your input can supply, the voltage(input) drops below 10 and this triggers the error.

I got it. I was using a 12VDC wall adapter.
Thanks for the info.
There's an option to decrease the low input voltage cutoff. Will it help if i reduce it down to ~9V instead of the present value 10V?

If you do that then there is a chance of overloading your adapter. Your best bet is to use a cheap PC SMPS. It will provide you with 10A at 12V.

My wall adapter is providing me just 1A. I'll upgrade it as soon as possible. Thanks again.

I wont recomend to use regular PC SMPS as they cannot deliver even 5A power in 12 volt rail if not specially designed like in cooler master / corsair / other costly SMPS. Normal 400-450/- SMPSs are use 1n360, 5822 like diode with heatsink which are designed only for 3A. If you need only 12 volt 3A, go for dedicated 12 volt SMPS, 1A costs 90/-, 3A costs 250/-. 1A supply use 3A diode and 3A supply use 20A diode. so, you can overload them and they can give 1.5 times power than they rated, with full satisfaction, than computer SMPS.

But I recommend to use the adapter that comes with it.

If we combine all the 12V(yellow) lines into one wire and GND(black) lines into another and draw power it can deliver ~10A at ~10v all day long if using any run of the mill 450W smps. I use 4 of these regularly since 3 years. 10V is because there no regulation in the 12V rails in these pc smpss. So the voltage drops(this can be remedied by loading the 5v rail but results in power loss). This kind of supply is indeed very noisy and not that reliable but good enough for battery chargers in my opinion.
Although I have to agree with kalyanda that in this situation, the dedicated 3A smps will be better. :)
@kalyanda: Everything I said is based on experimentation without a sound footing on theory. Would you please correct me if I am wrong? ;D

Hey, 10A at 10 volt (in 2 cell) for 4 days, Are you making chlorate ? If yes, maintain pH and Temp. for safety. ;D
10 BOT unit Appx for 4 days, Either you have good luck that you got the SMPS with MOSPEC rectifier instead of 2 nos 3A diode (Capacity 6A) run with heatsink (10A) comes with Frontech or xinits smps or, you get 2 volt drop as you overload it as voltage drops. Power supply capacity should be such that voltage regulation should be within specified range with declared rating.

Just open up the SMPS. If it has 2 nos diode in 12 volt line with heatsink, you will found the PCB designed for MOSPEC rectifier. Just replace them with MOSPEC 35C40 (25/-) and you get amazed result. Just watch on HF Transformer temp.

Not four days :P I use 4 smps regularly to run some of my wired robots(which need 60A at full power)..
Yes all 4 of them are 450W frontechs. Will do as advised and post resuls! :)
