Post by: vikalp11 on August 15, 2011, 12:26:47 AM
Has anyone used LiFePo4 battery?
How is it against Lipo battery. Is it safe? & good in performance?

Thanks,

Have you used it? & does it go along well with the normal brushless motors, ESC, recievers? or there specially made to suit LiFePo4 battery?

yes I have been using these batteries in my 50cc plane for a long time without any problem.

here is a good read on different lithium batteries and their pros and cons

Yes it is a safer alternative for the LiCo that is commonly used ina LapTop Battery but Energy Density is Lesser i.e. you would require a larger size Battery for LiFePo4 as compared to the LiCo.

You need to a minimum of 20 charge/discharge cycles to no less then 2.5v/cell.You should be good after that.Otherwise the batteries will PUFF,you can still use them for a relatively low discharge device like your tx,they won't catch fire or explore or smoke even after they are puffed(i use my 6 month puffed state lifep04 battery in my starter box.)
I have not heard of lifep04 storage ,but you do have a setting for these in icharger or similar hobby charger.

hello!
I can asure you that lifepo4 batteries is not as good as lipo batteries.
If you want to be more powerful and more safe ,lipo batteries will be your best choice.
