Title: Need Help !! Futaba battery model FP-T6VA
Post by: viksi on April 04, 2011, 12:53:56 PM
Hey guys need help with a replacement battery. I have a futaba tx with a NiCad battery pack rated at 9.6 v and 500mah. The battery pack went bust because of over charging ( i think) and i need a replacement.

Now I am told that the new Lipos and NiMh are a better substitute.
Could anyone suggest me some cost effective solutions ?

thanks

My Suggestion,
Since LIPO have good memory capacity so can store the power for a longer duration.
but if one ask my personal openion then it will be to nimh or nicd pack only.
Reason :
can be charged with conventiopnal charger instead of costly chargers.
can be home built.
cells easily available.

i am not a heavy user of tx and my flight goes upto max 1 hr. at a given time  that too only on Sundays only.
i have my own built 1500 mah nicd battery pack (approx rs.500)which i charge a night before flying day, and i found it more then enough for a day.

Also,
there is a lot of difference in nicd /nimh packk and LiPo pack , which may damage the tx or detoriate the components inside.
nicd/ nimh - 9.6V
Lipo - 11.1 V

There are many people who are using LiPo since long time and have not found any issue.

Thanks Sandeep , that helps a lot . I almost pulled the trigger on 3 Li-ion batteries which i was gonna kludge togather to make a 11.1v li-ion set. Now i think I will stick to nicd. where did u get the Nimh packs  though ?
