Satya, its happenned because of deep discharge of the cells.. when deep discharged, because of the nature of polymer salts battery become swelled.. and while using a programmable charger, we must take extra care to programme the charger in to the specific values of the batteries.. if not a wrong charge current may damage the cells.. this is why i always preset chargers.. this will take a little extra time but never hurts battery.. one of the proved charger is I Max B3.. was suing about 2 years regularly, and still works fine.. please take extra care while handling the swelled cells..

i think 4.20V per cell is max value. your charger should stop charging at 12.6.

Satya, i never force you, or advice you to recharge the swelled battery once.. because i have some bad experiences with swelled battery, while recharging..  so take care..

hi guys my lipo 1450mpa battery has been puffed during charging......
but only one leaf has been puffed
what can i do now
can i use this battery or bin it!!!!!

veloci

@satyagupta and @mohit, dispose the batt. Not worth the risk. Next time, charge ur lipo with the 'storage charge' option if u dont plan to use it fr sometime. Also, it is advisable to charge and discharge the batt @least once a month. Preventive maintenance! Cheers.

Bin the puffed cell and use the rest :)
It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic,
Of all things physical and metaphysical,
Of all things human and all things super-human,
Of all true manifestations of the head,
Of the heart, of the soul,
That the life is recognizable in its expression,
That form ever follows function. This is the law.

Dear all,
With Lipo battery is never adviced to take risk, as mentioned above In a fellow modeller post that one should be very care while setting up you charger with correct no of cells, charge current and the capacity of the battery. Whenever you notice that your Lipo battery has been puffed up, it's highly adviced to dispose it and get yourself a new pack. Today most advance chargers comes with storage program, this means if you don't want to use your battery for long then just input the correct data of your battery in your charger and press start, then charger in return charges or discharges the battery to 60%, that is the approx voltage that a Lipo battery can be stored.
