What's the connection? Anyone getting this deserves a medal for lateral thinking. Answer will be revealed within the next 60 minutes. Go ahead and rack your grey cells.

Ok maybe A Lipo quick check? the 'HOT' sticker on the box, which displays the word hot when it is senses heat. It turns fullblack when it is cold. This can be stuck onto Lipos for a quick visual check.

VC

Raghav - Bingo!!! :D :D :D :D I'll take you out for a Pizza the next time that I am in Chennai (my third most favourite city).

Charging a Lipo is a process where Mr. Murphy plays a huge role. If you happen to have a LiPo safe bag, you are somewhat safer. I don't, so I devised my own "Distance Warning System".

I took off the 'HOT' dot from a Pizza Box and stuck it to the LiPo as it charges. One more was stuck on the Balance Charger. If the one on the LiPo reads HOT, it is time for some urgent evasive action. ;D

And the beer is on me! .

I have a few of these lying around on various stuff around the house which might cause a heatburn. One problem i've had with them is the glue has some issues. Taping them down doesnt help. sometimes gives false positves due to insulation by the tape i guess.

So here it is gentlemen, The LiPo quikcheck. The next time you order a Lipo celebrate with a pizza.  (:|~

Cheers!

Yup. This stuff is called Thermax. I can find leads on Alibaba but nothing retail...

EDIT: I found this later on google.

They seem to make slightly better temp calibrated stickers. im not sure if they'd do retail but im sure some LHS can do a bulk buy from them if there is suitable need generated.

Thanks. Thanks again for the first line of your Reply # 7. I deeply appreciate.

If you dont have a lipo safe box, buy/salvage a single high current fuse box . It is 100% fire and slightly explosion proof. It also has 2 predrilled holes on the top and bottom and has a provision for a small padlock, so your batteries are safe from kids or pets even after they are charged. I will try to find a pic and upload it.

cheers!

On what principle does it work?

VC, its a great idea, but is it really required when charging? A good charger should take care of the voltage and its not possible to sit in front of the charger all the time. :( I just goto the room when the charger chimes. Of course no flammable material nearby :)

And I didnt like the hot dot on pizza boxes. They show hot even when the pizza is just warm  >:(

iamahuman

Smart!

A lipo in good condition shouldn't heat up under charge....

I need to keep those stickers the next time we order pizza.

And I agree with Vinay, the stickers say "HOT" even when it is warm. Is this a problem only Bangaloreans have? ???

iamahuman

Really? A thread hijack? Come on man! ( Sorry for doing this on your topic VC)

Look at other topics regarding charging of lipos and you should get your answer. (If you think I'm being mean, it's not that. Your question didn't have enough details in it to be answered)

Back on topic, how well do these adhere to a surface when re-used from time to time?(If needed)
