Its 03:35 as of now , about half an hour ago, I was sleeping.
Put my LiPo to charge at around 02:20 and slept off thinking that it takes about 6 hours to charge so once i get up, it would be still be getting charged.
At 03:00 the alarm of my LiPo started off, and, the moment i opened my eyes, THE ROOM WAS FULL OF SMOKE and there was a small fireball on the LiPO ! I just sprang out of my bed, still weary eyed and was trying to make out of the situation.
Realizing that the LiPo has burnt, i covered my nose, opened the windows and put the Fan to FULL Speed. After waiting some time outside the closed room, i went inside and saw no fire, but lots of smoke, this time not from the LiPo but a MicroFiber cloth that started burning alongside it . Finally dealing with the cloth and seeing the room clear of smoke , just left everything the way it is, and am writing this.
So this is what happened.
Have my table to clear out now :/
:o :o :o
that really sad parichay. :( :(
can you please share battery n charger specs?
be careful.. :sleepy:
charger was IMAX B6, the LiPo was well the culprit here, it was a VERY old ( 4 years ) 30C 2200mAh LiPo...
Dude the first and very important warning on every lipo and the charger is
"NEVER LEAVE LIPO UNATTENDED WHILE CHARGING"
You just escaped, what might had been a major accident. Please take extreme care while charging lipo.
Yes , i learned it this way.
Plan to get LiPo Safe bag now. And yes, no unattended use of LiPo from now XD
so what triggered the fire??? or did the lipo overcharged and exploded
yes, i think that is what just happened .. .
Sorry Parichay For That. This Means That We really Need To Take Care And Be Attentive While Charging Lipo.
Aman.
Yup, that we do.
Even my Eyes Got Open By This Incident.I hope your table didnt get Damaged on which the lipo was getting charged???
Regards,
Aman.
Their are things know as lipo charging bag that exist
People take lipo as a joke
Why do you they are not allowed in an airplane ?
yea, realized it now XD getting one soon.
It was an old LiPo i should have been more careful, usually the newer ones aren't as prone ..
New or old , any lipo which is over charged will do the same .
the charger i have cuts off the current, so i dont think that is an issue here, it was the LiPo most probably .
But if there is some defect in Charger then i think it may also damage the next lipo your charging with it.I dont know i am correct or not???
Regards,
Aman.
Use a steel container(can store many batteries also economical) to store it as don't forget to punch some holes and keep some sand around to put out the fire(incase) :hatsoff:
aman- no, the charger is fine, the lipo was at fault ..
himadri - yea will do next time :)
Oh Sorry Then !!! Well I that's Good That The Charger Is Fine :D
Regards,
Aman .:)
