Hi Guys !!!

Just notied, HK has got Turnigy Nanotech Batteries which claim to be upto 90C discharge  :bow:... (Who needs that anyway  :giggle:)

The best part is, these batteries support upto 8C CHARGING  :salute: which means that a 3 cell 3000mah can be topped up within 15 mins at 5C charge.  :o (but only if your charger supported it) (5C means you need to charge the battery at 15Amps)

Wow, so now competition for the Hyperion types also !

I think the future for electrics is getting brighter and brighter.  For fields where power is available, and equipped with a charger like the "Quattro" (which can charge 4 batteries simultaneously), going to nitro for longer flight times is no longer needed.  There are other reasons for nitro, like the sound and scale feeling. Flight time alone (or recharging time... and the associated need for multiple batteries) seems to be much less of a reason for nitro now.

Only the cost of multiple sets  of batteries is still a deterrent, at least for me!

But we need less number of batteries now, if the field has wall plug electric power !  If it only takes 15 minutes to charge on average, and give it another 5 to 10 minutes for the lipo to cool down after flying, then you can fly continuously with about 3 batteries, as compared to needing close to 6 or 7 earlier.

Not necessary, If you have a right set of batteries, with a fields charger, and plan your motors accordingly, then you you dont have to worry.

Say I have 8 2200 mah 3S 20C batteries.

I USE them on 450 Helis.
I can put 2 of them in series and use them on 500 size helis as well(Flight time 5 mins only).
I can parallel up 2 of them and use them in 50" High wing trainer with a properly planned motor/prop.
I can use them on EDFs, huge foamies/coros etc.
I can make a 6S2P using 4 of these batteries and use it on a Trex 600 as well :giggle: (Suicidal  ;) due to external connections.)
I can make a 12S 2P and use it on a 27% extra as well! (Homicidal ?  :headscratch:)

All you need is 2 ESC of different capacity which you can just velcro in and out of the machines Ready to fly. The rest is motors for each machine which is cheap as well from HC compared to Engines from India.

The possibilities are numerous. Just has to be planned well. I agree nothing beats the price of Nitro. Unless HC comes out with battery prices which are lower than their shipping prices.  :headscratch:
