Hi,
I was making a multicopter as you people know.
My battery came with JST-XH Connector and I have the simple XT60 pack with me.  What to do?
Is it safe to desolder the JST XH from the battery and plug in the XT60 connector? Will it be safe?

Or I should buy the JST-XH. From where to buy? Any person sells in Delhi??

Whats the maximum current that I can pass through the JST-XH ,XT60 and XT90?

Rahul.

cut off the jst plug from the battery and solder the xt60 to it.

oooooh... i had a similar problem...i soldered a xt60 onto my tx LiPo....you have to be careful.... do NOT let the wires come in contact for even 1 MILLISECOND!

here's how to go about it...

remove the old connector....
strip the ends of the wire...
put some solder onto the xt60 connectors.....
put some solder on the wires....
slide HEATSHRINK onto the wires... do it before soldering!
solder.... DO NOT mix up the terminals.... Negative(BLACK) goes on the triangle side of the connector and positive(RED) goes on the flat side of the connector....
now slide the Heatshrink up the wire, and it will shrink over the hot solder.....
put some electrical tape, if  you dont have heatshrink.....

but jst xh is used for balancing! why do u wanna replace????

max power is:-

XT60: 90 Amps
XT90: 120 Amps
JST XH: 30 Amps

hope it helps! ;D

Rahulvyas

Thanks guys it solved the prob
but my battery supplies 135A. What now? is XT60 safe or I need XT90?

and why does it come with JST XH when it only is capable of 30A?

What battery are you using? C-Rating? Capacity? What were the stock connectors?

Then the max. continuous current available is 4.5*30=135A (as you have already stated)...Hence go for suitable connectors...

This might help...

You have this pack in the photo below. This is like any other standard LiPo battery with one balance tap which in this case is JST-XH and one charge/discharge plug which is 4mm bullet connector. The balance tap (well in majority of cases) is only to balance the cells while charging or to check battery status through a battery tester. The balance tap is not used as medium of discharge or charging so it does not need to be a high gauge and high amps and does not need to be changed unless your charger has a different balancing port/plugs. You will only change the 3MM bullet connector if your charger or your application (quad in your case) has a different plug used at the ESC end. You can always make an adapter to work in between your battery and ESC.

One clarification: You do not need to change to a particular discharge plug just because of how many amps the battery can push but only decide on the connector how many amps your application draws i.e. Your battery can supply upto 135A but there are chances that your setup only draws 30A so you will be absolutely fine to have a discharge plug which is rated for 30-40Amps.

So what now? where do I get it?

Can I remove that HXT and put a XT60? My battery supplies 135A.

my motors pull 90A maximum. and I read that XT60s are capable of 60A maximum. Are you sure?

Why not use the one (HXT 4mm) already on your battery which is rated for 93A constant and the burst rate (a few seconds) would be higher than what you need? Which plug do you have on the ESC side?

If you have just one battery than it does not matter to change the connector either on the battery or on your board so you have one type of connector but if you have multiple batteries to use than its better to change one connector (on your board) rather than changing connector on each of your battery. Make sense?  ;D

I know it is a tricky decision because you want to use one type of connector so everything you have including your charger connector is the same type. Take a decision and stick to it. Or make a few adapters of various connectors.

I use Dean ultra, Anderson Power Poles and small JST connectors while my charger only has Dean output so I have couple of adapters for each to work for me.

well I have 2 same batteries. Where do I get these connector converters in India?
