Respected modelers.
Many of us are using different brand of lipos for our Rc planes. Its always a question mark for Begginers to choose electronics (specially lipos ) as they are some what expensive.
So i request all seniors and others who has used different brands lipo. Please share your valuable experience with us.
Please also let us know in 2200mah 3s which is better Zippy or Turnigy with respect to performance , life cycle, weight, true capacity and other specifications.
An excript from hobbyking website
"TURNIGY® Batteries explained
Zippy: Great value for money. Average Cycle Life* (100+) and minimal voltage sag under load.
TURNIGY Standard: Excellent value, Longer Cycle life* (160+) and very low voltage sag under load.
TUNIGY nano-tech: Unbeatable performance, Longest Cycle Life* (250+) and almost 0 voltage sag under load.
*Cycle Life results from discharging at full C rate to 3v. End of life when battery has 80% capacity. "
buy either - you will not notice any difference
turnigy nanotech are good !!
Sharing my experiences with Lipo batteries in the past 2 years.
Zippy - Not so good. I have had 2 fail , and though they are slightly lighter, they lack the protective plastic at the ends , and thus very easy to damage the cells.
Turnigy - Blue ones - My favorites - Have lasted the longest. and still going strong.
NanoTechs - Have given good discharge rates, but in my opinion have a very short life. They swell MUCH sooner, and take on even even the slightest of abuse very harshly.
I have had 2 dead nanotechs out of the box. and nearly all others slightly swollen dispite never taking them below 3.5V per cell, or shorting etc.
Rhino - Pretty good batteries . Though they are heavier and expensive. I have owned only 2 of them ans they are OK .
I am going to try GenAce soon !
Thanks for sharing your experience... it will be of great help for a newbie like me..
My next battery will be turnigy... any reliable online store to buy them from??
How about Indpower from rcdhamaka ..??
Thanks a lot Every one, for their valuable feed back. Surely it will help beginners.
I have personally used indpower they are also very good. they last longggg, and have full capacity.
in my boat buils i have used zippy and turnigy both ,i loved zippy over turnigy ... although in my ebike zippy puffed (heavily) in less than 30 seconds ,may be because i was pulling way more than its rated value .
I would like share my recent experience with Turnigy Nano Tech 6s.
- I always full charged them just before flying
- I stored them at 3.7V
- Charged at 1C or less
Even after following above steps, following are the results (I have 5 of them)
One of them has lost power i.e. voltage cut off after barely flying 5 mins
4 of them have puffed
Not happy :(
I have used Zippy Flightmax 4 of them. All very impressive in performance. I have lost all of them due to crashes resulting in deformation of batteries. Still they are usable but I don't want to risk my goodies.
I prefer Rhino Lipoly & A-SPEC nano-tech more than ZIPPY.
I have used turnigy, nano-tech and rhino. If you are looking for outright performance, go for the nano-techs. If you want longer life go for turnigy :)
