ok...so m kartik..into aeromodeling from about 2 years..but i make scale models of various planes..that unfortunately are just chucker models which just glide. they are made from dense foam, and card sheet.
now i want to make simple RC models from depron. question arises..
1. where can i find depron in mumbai?
2. where can i buy servos, motor, battery, etc in mumbai.
3. the models whc i make are very light(see pic)..is it possible to make my models into indoor rc?

if size is the matter..what if i make a model whc is 14 inch long . can that plane become a RC??

help me out...i feel a looser when i see other people flying simple planes but whc are RC. so i want one of my own rc plane.
please.

You certainly have the gift !  {:)}

It is best to work with someone local, like Subbu.  And Subbu has access to others from the Mumbai area who are even more experienced.

If you make really small ones, the electric flight components would be expensive (tiny motors etc cost more).  Typical foamy wing spans are 25+ inches to about 50 inches (although you can go above and below).

You do have to reinforce them for RC flights (using balsa/kebab sticks, carbon-fibre rods, aluminium/umbrella rods, or something of that sort), if you build them the same way as you are building now (at least the wings).

Thanks for the replies....
subbu i will contact u sm time later...when i get free...!!..same situation...aeromodeling takes a lot of time and patience...

hmm...i had given a thought about the reinforcing thingy to my planes...i will def do that.

what i really want to know is what do we call the brushless motors, the servos, the Electronic speed alternator..etc...in the general language which delears can understand ..the market language.

An RC dealer would not have any problems understanding the terms you just listed.

The big task for you is to do some research, pick a model to build, then pick a power system (motor/ESC/prop/battery) and other accessories (like servos).  There are many threads here on how to do it, and you should be aware that the starting point is figuring out the "AUW" (all up weight) of the aircraft you are building.  It is based on AUW (the weight of the aircraft while it is flying, including all electronics and battery) that decides what is the capacity/rating of all these other components.

I am sure hooking up with Subbu would answer many of your questions, and raise some new ones.  Good luck !

hello splitz

first let me congratulate you for the superb building, now there is a way you can convert all those beautiful model to RC or buy a similar size rc plane see the link

all the best

Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

I totally agree with Sahil all of them can be flown with Plantraco.

Material Card sheet used for the the wings and control surfaces which are in colour must be realy helping when you are using it as chuck glider giving some weight to the model. However you have to lose them all to reduce weight when you are mounting motors receiver with esc and actuators. To make it rigid and light you should use 1mm depron which can be recycled from disposable (biofoam) plates which is also 1mm depron. then you can surely make all of them fly with Plantraco.

I must compliment you your models are absolutely fabulous. you have become my inspiration I am going to recreate all your designs. absolutely fabulous.  {:)} {:)}

Does this work ? cost is relatively low than plantraco.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18826__2_4Ghz_SuperMicro_Systems_Receiver_ESC_and_2_x_Linear_Servos_All_in_one_3ch_.html

weight 2.5 gm
contain 2 linear servo,
one ESC(2A brushed) and
one 2.4GHz FHSS receiver,
works on 1S battery (90mAH/120/160/220mAH)
You can use iPod battery also (10C), so 120mAH will give you 1.2A discharge.

Motor may be
http://rcforall.co.in/product_info.php?cPath=2_19&products_id=103
or any coreless motor upto 6W

But I dont know, which module will work with turnigy or FS 9Ch as regular 2.4GHz will not work for the receiver.

Moreover, RCForall has micro linear 1.5gm servo. That also can be used.
Though RCFORALL claims he stocks micro glight equipments, only servo and brushed coreless motor with prop is available that can be used in near 16" wingspan plane. but sub 8" plane will require combined unit to save weight.

Of course another thing I have realize, 1$ = 100/- including all.
this will includes all, Transportation, customs duty, management (if required)> BUT PREFERRED TO PURCHASE FROM LHS.
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.
