what r canards?
where and wat r the events held in india on rc flying?
what do i need to study for making a plane fly?
i am a second year mechanical engineering student. i know basics of aerodynamics ,suggest me some airfoil designs commonly used for rc planes
Welcome to RC India :)
Please see this standard response to all beginners first :
http://www.rcindia.org/beginners-zone/beginner-help-needed-for-new-plane/msg55857/#msg55857
And definitely see this :

If you spend a few hours here, you will easily understand why direct answers to your questions are not being provided at this time. Unless you read and build your basic RC knowledge/vocabulary, any answers would just be met with "And what does that mean" :) So please take some time "read" AND "search", and you will find yourself getting immersed in this wonderful hobby.
Hey samarpan, which college are you in, I am a fourth year mech from kjsce vidyavihar, it would be nice if you could meet someone before making or flying your own plane, it should help. My no. is 9870696354, ring me up, I might not be the greatest flyer, but know a thing or two about building em.
MECH RULZZZZ
MECH RULZZZZ ???
I think they just drool; over infotech girls :P ;D
1. Canards are small wings in the front of planes. these usually replace or augument the tail planes. A good example is the front canards on the Long EZ plane. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canard_(aeronautics)
2. Things to study - I would suggest reading Bernoulli's principle, aerofoils and aerodynamics. specifically the lift principle.
@SunLikeStar lol wouldnt disagree, showing off a rc plane is a good conversation starter.
Mech always rules..!!
