beginners-what should i start with???

i am totally new to this hobby....i'm very interested.....plz can someone help where to get started?..what do i have to know??..nd what should i start with???
i'm from kolkata...nd i knw of a shop(India hobby center) but don't knw what to start with first.....
i would be very glad if someone could help with this..... :)........ THANK YOU

u hav posted ur ques at the rit place .....rcindia is the best place for u...

acc to me i think the first step u shud take is buy a good transmitter first and try aand get a simulator so tat u can start flying practice even without getting an actual plane or helicopter...

@spinzdude10 thank you for your advice....but you see i'm such more interested in first making one rather than flying.
should i start with making a rubber band powered plane??. The man at the India Hobby Center advised me to start with the rubber band powered plane.

And please can someone give me a link of a website or ebook to get basic knowledge on rc planes(how they fly??what makes them fly??..etc)..:)

I always advise a newby to make an effort and go to the flying field and talk to the peoplethere. (most people are very forthcoming for at least 3 sundays in a row before putting any money into it. If you are still enthusiatic about it, go ahead and take the plunge.
most people are very forthcoming if the see you on the field more than once.

Can anyone please suggest which type of free flight planes are best for beginners?? and can someone please give me link of websites or ebooks or tutorials on free flight model,details about them,how to construct them....and...any tips or advise will be very helpful...
I would also like a eBook or videos on basics of planes that a beginner has to know before making one.
