Hi All,

I am a beginner in RC Helicopters and this is my first post here on RC india

About my Heli:

Thunder 9004 3CH RC Helicopter  metallic with Gyro..

It has a 3.7 V lipo Battery ...100MAH

even though i am still learning how to fly it but i feel its flight time is too less i.e. just around 6-7 mins after that it slowly dies of and takes more almost 40 mins to charge (Through USB charger) it to see the show again... thats kind a demoralizing thing for me... I want to go ahead with this hobby but i have heard all the electric helis fly for only 10 mins or so?

are there any ways i can increase its time of flight ?

will adding one more battery do the needful? but wont that extra battery on the heli add to its weight .

It also has two led lights running ... cutting the power suppy to those will make any difference ?

Thanks in Advnance

Cutting the power to the led wont make any diff. It hardly consumes any power.
Thats a normal flight time.
Do not charge the battery as soon as it dies. And do not use the heli as soon as charge is completed. In both cases battery heats up so give it some time to cool.
The battery performance should improve after a few cycles if its new.
If its a micro heli adding another battery is not really an option.

Hi Talwinder

you can try soldering a 150 mah lipo instead of the 100 mah stock. I did the same with my heli....i got a 2-3 min increase in time. But you have to be careful with lipo placement.

Another thing which you could do is try to install a connector between the pcb and the lipo making it removable. The stock charger only charges the lipo till 3.9 v. You could then charge the lipo with a lipo charger upto 4.2 v...and then reconnect the lipo to the heli.

Thanks alot for your quick responces

@Ankur... i will try it...

Talwinder, please check and recheck - is it a LiPo or Li Ion battery? A LiPo battery is flat, like a packet, Li Ion battery packs are cylindrical in shape. if this is your Heli, I doubt if it has a LiPo.

I could be wrong though, I bought a 3 Ch CoAx Heli and they (the seller) said that it had a LiPo battery, but it turned out to be a Li Ion instead. There are other people in the forum who have been somehow, similarly,  misled.
