Hi, I am new to RC hobbies, so I want to know the basics for connecting my APM 2.6 to computer. When I connect my APM to computer with the USB should I put the jumper in jp1 or not? Because I don't want to burn my flight controller.

Connect the micro usb cable to the apm and connect the usb on your pc.
The driver for atmega 2560 will install.Click the connect option on the top right of the mission Planner window.Go to the initial setup and click on the install firmware and select the frame type your firmware will install.
After installing firmware connect the hardware components of your drone and start callibrating it.

I am using 1000kv motors with 10x4.5 propellers. But my battery got damaged after crashing.

Wow nice. Sorry to hear that. Are you using an power module. If the battery is not burned you can repair your battery there are various videos on YouTube. My frame is F450, 1000kv motors, simonk ESC, 1045 PROP, Battery 3000 mAh from robu.in, one single axis gimbal. Build it looking YouTube videos. Now ordered a GPS 8m waiting for that.

Please DO NOT even try that. A damaged LiPo can cause serious injuries. Even if there are no signs of physical damage, the LiPo might malfunction and burn. It's wiser to buy a new LiPo after a crash.

Multistar lipo batteries are very good but they are costly.I am going to attach the APM 2.8 on my drone.I ordered them from rees52.I am using the power power module.

sankhasubhra11

I heard that after flight accident we must check the battery thoroughly. My battery got damaged after one week of accident.Second time I bought another battery. It worked but accidently it falled from my hands and one cell got damaged next day.
I heard that Chinese lipos are not good.Is it true?

Jintumoni23

Some of the Chinese lipo are fake they assume to be 2200mah but sometimes unlucky it comes out to be 800mah or 1000mah so I would suggest don't go for Chinese. I m also using a power module.the site u mentioned rees521 or something like that is it a good site is it trustworthy.

Thanks mate/sir. While using the power module the jumper should be unplugged right. And the ground wire, the signal wire and the positive wire connecting the ESC. my question is that in that position while connecting the apm with the ESC can I connect all the three wires in the APM or only should I connect the signal wire of the 4 ESC . No jumper only power module . m little bit of confused.

sankhasubhra11

while calibrating the power module unplug the esc wires from the apm. After a successful callibration you can connect all the three esc wires to the apm and the power module also. While calibrating connect the battery but don't connect the esc at that time it will damage the board.

see this wonderful drone with ultrasonic sensor-

Well Jintumoni do you know how to callibrate the power module without using battery?I will buy battery later.

Jintumoni23

Yes you have to connect the PM first then in mission planner you have to select the power module I have linked you to videos as a guideline. While doing that it will not show the original voltage and current but instead it will show you the voltage and current from the USB . It will only show the correct voltage and current when you connect the battery. The two videos will let you know the mods you have to change on the PM option in the mission planner. And please don't connect the USB and the battery together as it might kill your voltage regulator in the APM and also I don't have a good knowledge.

you can also watch this site it will help you-[urlhttp://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-power-module-configuration-in-mission-planner.html][/url]

Jintumoni23

Thanks mate/sir. Even I need some knowledge about the power module. So r you using any sports cam.
