Hey guys... Nice to see an Indian forum on RC matters... Been waiting for our people in this field for some time..

I am looking for an outdoor beginner RC helicopter, preferably coaxial since i have practice with them. Needs to be 3 channels , i.e, with a vertical tail rotor that pushes the nose down for forward flight and includes a gyroscope.

Specifications don't really look extraordinary or something but I am on a tight budget under AED 600. Now in that price range I have only come across Chinese makes which rarely fly over 2-3 times with no replacement parts or services of any kind. I have looked at hobby stores here(particularly hobby center and hobbies zone) along with general stores like toys r us and carrefour and so far no luck. I would really appreciate your help in finding a suitable heli at a suitable price in Dubai...

Thank you.

You can find Esky LAMA (v5 these days, I believe) in that price range (although the vertical tail rotor is not there, it does work well).  But you have to visit the hobby stores, not Carrefour or Lulu :)

Also, please contact our member "bmanoj2", he is in touch with some of the Dubai hobby shops, and should be able to help you with directions etc.

Thank you Mr Anwar,

The ESKY lama is more of an indoor heli and i dont think its capable of surviving the lightest of breeze outside. I was looking for something a bit bigger actually. I will try to get in touch with mr manoj, maybe he can help me out as you said.

Aah... it was not clear you wanted outdoor ones, especially since you mentioned that you wanted "co-axial" which sort of directly translates to indoor :)

You can see what fixed pitch (FP) helis are available in the local hobby stores then. Collective pitch (CP) ones are better, but not sure if they will fit into your budget.

There are some outdoor toy helis (the department store variety), but parts availability is an issue.

There is also at least one proper RC hobby shop there in DragonMart.

For the coax ones from there, be sure to ask for parts support (I doubt it seriously!), otherwise you will be in the same boat as Carrefour stuff.

Just got off the phone with ultimate heli staff and they suggested me the BLADE sr RTF: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLH1500. Its collective pitch and not for beginners...
However I stumbled upon the BLADE 120sr RTF: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=BLH3100. Its fixed pitch and after reading the specs, it looks pretty good with the only downside being that it is not coaxial and a bit small(30 cm). They don't have this helicopter sadly :(.
Also Ive learned that coaxial's are mostly available as indoors. So I have to drop that requirement and move to conventional fixed pitch helis instead.
One good thing though, a bit of bargaining with ultimate heli people does bring prices down.

sujju, thanks but what they sell at dragonmart is exactly what I don't want...

If you are armed with the internet prices, Ultimate Heli folks do seem to be considerate of that.

Ive also found out WALKERA. A chinese make, but hobby stores do supply replacement parts......So far, ESKY, BLADE(particularly sr120 rtf) and WALKERA are the only affordable brands ive found. Any opinions on these and which hobby stores I can get them?
