Hi All,

I am new to this group.  Given an assignment to design the propulsion system for an UAV using electric motors & 2 blade propeller.  I am based in Chennai.  Looking for the place to buy the propeller blade and motors.  Please provide me the details about how to get the propeller blade and motors for the UAV.  Any shops in chennai will help.

Regards

hello bro... welcome to Forum. you can get propeller and motors on any hobby site,  first which prop do you want .(size pitch etc..) which motor you want to use brushed or brushless motor... first check these perimeters what type of setup you need and than check these sites you can get almost everything on these sites.  quadkopters.com , rcmumbai.com , rcbazaar.com
good luck.

@kmkn08,
This shop is in Chennai. They have everything you need.

By the way, what is there to design in this? Just curious! Dozens of motors and props are available even in India.

Best of luck with your project.

Many Thanks for all,  Information helped me a lot.  Many Thanks once again.

1.    I got an issue when selecting motors for the UAV model which weighs around 3 Kg.  Difficult to find the motor which can be fit into the 75mm tube.  Please help me to find out the motor & propeller spec needed to propel the 3 Kg plane model.

2.    Can it be possible to try 2 or 3 motors with propeller blades to propel the 3 Kg model.

miginstruments

Well 3 KG is a huge Weight. But one can only help you in a better way if You tell what exactly you are going to build. Half information will only lead you to Half Solutions. BTW since KK Sir is watching this post, so I am not using any short word.

v2 eagle

where are you in chennai and why do you need to fly 3kg model!!!
depending upon the situation you can,
go for nitro models,
take to multirotors
or try lightening your load.

option 3 is cheaper and a bit difficult.!

Dear friends,

Thanks to this thread and discussion  I who has no prior rc flying experience but very keen to take on this hobby, have zeroed down on the following planes as my first plane to buy. Would be grateful if anyone of you could fine tune this list so that I could zero down on my first plane that would get me started. For me the following are some considerations i.e. no prior flying experience, easiest to fly, easy to maintain, availability of spare parts for repairs etc. Would be grateful for any help and further advice. Thanking you in anticipation.

Gee ashwini06 you're asking for someone to supply a complete shopping list. You'll never learn anything about components if you rely on this sort of thing. If six people made you a list very little would be the same. If you are really interested in the hobby you should learn to study such things.

I'm not wanting to sound rude but it's relatively easy to read the build logs on places such as RC Groups. It will give you pointers on what you'll need. It's far better to make your own list and simply ask if people agree with your choices. I don't know where you want to buy these parts, if it's HobbyKing, go to their site and check out the various motors, from that you can read the maximum current it needs and buy a suitable ESC. From the motor size it's easy to read which prop is suitable and from that you can figure out which battery you need.  Are you ready to spend big and buy expensive parts or are you on a tight budget. If  the answer is the latter then buy on price. Grab the cheaper 9gm servos and nylon rather than carbon fiber props. Is your plane a pusher, if so you need a specific type of prop.

Simple deduction, basic electronics and common sense is all that's required to get your own shopping list together. To expect someone to spend his time doing all your work is a big ask. Show you're interested and people will be more inclined to assist you. Please don't get upset about what I've said. I'm only trying to make you a better RCer.

Good Luck ... Stu

@ashwin06
Didn't expect such a question from you.
Are you not the person who posted this message?
@Mr. Iyer,
Reynolds number is used to determine whether a flow will be laminar or turbulent. If Re is high, inertial forces dominate viscous forces and the flow is turbulent; if Re number is low, viscous forces dominate and the flow is laminar.
Reynolds number is important in wind tunnel experiments since it relates to the aerodynamic properties of lifting surfaces, such as airfoils, when extrapolating from small wind tunnel test models to full-size wings. Reynolds discovered that, if the same atmospheric pressure were used for experiments with wind tunnel models as a full-size aircraft would encounter under actual conditions, the experimental results would be invalid.
So this term will come in use when i shall go through my model analysis with wind tunnel.

For information please.

NO, Mr. Iyer, I did not use this site, please check once. Go to that site and hit at the R letter and search REYNOLDS NUMBER and read out. For your satisfaction i write these lines from 2 books-
1- Heat and mass transfer written by- D S kumar
2- Fluid mechanics and hydraulics by- Dr. Jagdish lal

IN ALL THE BOOKS FUNDAMENTAL IS SAME BUT WORDS ARE DIFFER. please check yourself.
Please take a snap shot of that page from where i COPY- PASTE this information and attach it.

@propfella,
Sorry sir, I asked the question in a wrong way. I have all the data, i calculated it with the help of information provided by online.
I was asked this question to make sure, am i right or some improvement is needed.... you know sir this is not a big task, i prepare my plane by myself, i did not attend any workshop or any seminar...

site is- http://adamone.rchomepage.com and some pdf.
And thank you so much for your advice.  :iagree:

@ashwin06,
Ok.
In a few minutes i'll post specific suggestions.
Meanwhile you may like to look at this:

Why did you withdraw your question?
Please repost.

Sorry my ipad was occupied as my sister called. Hence delay.

ashwini06

Really a very helpful page... it will very help to me to cross checking.  :thanks:

ashwini06

Because, that question was giving a bad message.

@ashwin06
Relax man, we are not enemies.
Feel free to pm me.
I'm at your service..
If i remember, your plane is 150cm, 5-600gms.
If so, you canuse an Emax 2822 (~Rs 600), 9x5 or 10x6 prop, 1000mah 3s or 1500mah 2s
Alternatively, Turnigy D2826 1000 or 1400kv

ashwini06

No you r judging me wrong, i am fine, there is nothing such as... thanks , but i have ordered all that things today... :)

Propfella

Personally I'd go for a 2200mah 3s lipo. They are by far the cheapest battery on a bang for buck scenario and I think you'd find a 1000Mah far too restrictive in air time. The suggested motor draws a peak of 10 amps. I'm interested in what you actually ordered Ashwin and see how you went in your search. Please post a list of what you decided on. Stu
