Title: Motor for electric plane
Post by: ayush29k on November 20, 2010, 07:48:40 PM
Hello, I am Ayush
I am making my first plane.
Its weighs roughly 500-750grams.
wingspan: 70cm
Made of Balsa

i am thinking of using a 1500-2000kv brushless motor with a 25-30A ESC.
I plan to run these by a 11.1V 2200mah LiPo battery
Also i want to use 5 servos here.

Is this configuration suitable for my plane?
please advice

You need two more parameters. What is the thrust/wattage of the motor ?  And what prop are you going to use ?

Please see this thread, as a starting point : http://www.rcindia.org/electric-power/amp-rating-and-motor-size/

@akky
i need 1 servo-elevator, 1 for rudder rudder and 2 for aileron control.
the fifth is just for some funky stuff like canopy and landing gear. :P

@rajathv8

I already have extra servos so i thought why buy more, i can do the retracting thing with the normal servo too. The canopy thing is still just an idea, i just wanted to have your advice on my maximum requirements.
Akky sir could you please advice me on motor and ESC configuration for this plane ??

guys
my plane weighs  about 450 grams ....
and i want to use the following  electric gear

Motor : 1270kv ; 204 W ; Max amps=18 ; Max trust 970 gms.        i want to use these same parts in larger models

Mystery 30 Amp  ESC  with 5v/3A BEC     is this  Enough for the motor ??

Turnigy  1800 mAh ;3s1p ; 20 c  Li-Po   can i get a flight time of 12-15 min ?

and using 4-servos  of  9gm each

and a 6Ch transmitter { image below }   is this good ,so it can be used  till  i advance to an intermediate  level ??

what charger should be used for the above stated Li-Po ??  how much will it cost ??  {I have real low amount to spend on this}

waiting for your suggestions  ....

Go through RCIndia Gems http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/ (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/)
Spend some time reading this.You can find all related information there.

However your selection of motor, ESC and battery are all right. ESC is enough for motor and battery will give you 12-15 min. Transmitter is also ok. I will suggest you to go for atleast 50W charger like this

if you want to stay longer in hobby.
