First Trainer Plane
Hello guys,
I have made one RC plane Electronics need to be order.
But at first, I was wanted to share whatever I have made and need suggestions.
As I was calculating the plane AUW is going upto 480g. I think its heavy.
Total weight is around 210g (without electronics)
Wing loading I have calculated.

Wing Area= 201 in2
Weight= 17oz (with electronics)
Wing loading=12.18 oz/ft2
Wing Area= 1296 cm2
Weight= 480g (with electronics)
Wing loading= .37 g/cm2

Specifications:
Wing area= 96x13.5 cm^2=1296cm^2
Wing Weight=110g
Fuselage length X width X height=59x4.5x7 Cm
Fuselage weight=100g
Airplane weight with control wires=210g
4 servos= 40g (https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigytm-tg9e-eco-micro-servo-1-5kg-0-10sec-9g.html)
Motor (Suggest) around 2200kv which one to choose out runner/inrunner I have considered it as max to max 50g(For future purpose also)
Battery=180g (https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-1300mah-3s-30c-lipo-pack.html)(suggest better option)

Have you bought the electronics? Cuz the Avionic 1350KV and 1900KV motors are a beast providing more than enough thrust. Checkout RC bazaar

Ohhhh yes
I saw that
Nice suggestion buddy.
Will check with that.
Any suggestion about plane.
Should I continue with the same?

hello ,that is good plane and don't worry that it is too heavy.
it should be stable to learn (if you made it to learn flying) and do take a glide test .

Hey Hi. It seems that the airfoil shape is not the way it should be.

Try to upload some more pics from side view and let experienced builders check whether you have got correct airfoil shape or not.

Dont be in a hurry to fly go slowly, take suggestions from experts.

Hey pranav,
Thanks buddy for replying. Will go with this only But I have polyhedral wing also with 3channel airplane similar to this will practice on that first and then go with this. ;)

Hey hi Swapnil,
Please check the following images.
And also video my plane construction is almost similar to this.

Tiny Trainer of FT is a great plane, I dont know what swapnil finds wrong, The air foil looks similar to the tiny trainer so I think it should fly pretty stable, unless i am missing something

Hy rajesh,
Good choice for ft tiny trainer as first plane, aerofoil seems ok to me.building with corro will make this even better.
Regarding power setup i would suggest you to go with a lower kv motor and a sf prop ,as it is your first plane you need the plane to fly slow.the higher kv motor would need a short dia and high pitch prop which makes the plane go faster .
I built my tiny trainer(in corro)with a 24 gram hextronic 1300kv and a 8×4sf prop with a 800 mah 3s. Auw of my plane was 480 grams(including lg too).

Ohhhkay,
Thanks buddy it boosted my moral for flying. :salute:

Yes, definitely appreciate your input and thanks for replying.
Soon I will order electronics and post videos, Pics.
Hope will disturb you guys again for the help ;););)

Hello guys I have decided to reduce weight upto 400gms and Might be changing wing with Greater aspect Ratio.
1) Can I use Following motors?
    https://hobbyking.com/en_us/brushless-motor-d2205-2600kv-ccw.html
    https://hobbyking.com/en_us/c20-brushless-outrunner-2050kv.html

    https://hobbyking.com/en_us/c20-brushless-outrunner-2050kv.html
Once the motor decided, Other thing i can figure out.
Please see below I will increase cord length By 3Cms to increase aspect ratio.
Need your expertise.

Have you placed orders from hobbyking before? Then you must know one thing that it takes almost a 3 weeks to a whole MONTH to receive the parts, along with the fact that things can get lost in transit. They may send you another but that will waste a lot of time. Rcbazaar, RcMumbai, Ebay and even amazon are have good range of motors. Speaking personally, ive made 5+ Ft models with a 1300kv 8 and  9 inch prop and they flew beautifully. We wanna fly more dont we ;)

Increasing the chord will DECREASE the aspect ratio...

(Aspect ratio is span/chord)

Yes mistake,
      Thanks for the info.
How does aspect ratio affects the coefficient of lift and drag?
And
How does wing span and cord respectively affects coefficient of lift?

Will definitely buying from RC bazzar.
Just figuring out to get into budget.

How does aspect ratio affects the coefficient of lift and drag?
And
How does wing span and cord respectively affects coefficient of lift?

Short answer:
1. Induced drag, (ie, as a consequence of lift) is inversely proportional to aspect ratio

2. Cord chord affects the coeff of lift as it affects the Reynolds number. CL deteriorates significantly at Re below ~50-100k, typical for small models.

If I remember right, a quick estimate of Re is chord in inches times speed in mph times 780
A model with a 6" chord, flying at around 6m/s, would have a Reynolds number Re below 100k.

BUT,
To fly a (first) model airplane successfully, stuff like CL, Re etc, not reqd.
Leave it for later. PM me for more theory if reqd ;D

Regards.

 :o ??? :headscratch:

Definitely, sir will bother you for more information ;), but currently doing calculation to get appropriate motor and proper.
I have changed the wing now its having 180mm cord ;) chord and 970mm span. Now weight of only airplane is 210gms with this increased chord. I am trying to figure out the motor and found some of those. Please guide me if I am wrong.

AUW(410gms max considered) * 0.11= 45watts
Considering motor efficiency 75%
Theoretical power(45)/0.75 = 60watts motor will be required.

The great,

Got all electronics.
Only Battery and charger is remaining.
As soon as it arrives, will assemble them and post flight video.
Thanks you guys for all your support and suggestions.

Complete it as soon as possible. We are eager to see the flight video.

Good Luck.

Thank you very much Swapnil :salute:
Will update ASAP.

Cant see those pics you have attached in your post regarding you getting all the eletronics. I had a doubt, Which motor did you actually get? Since none of them are listed to be giving above 600gms of thrust considering we prefer double the thrust with respect to AUW?

Cpt_Rajesh

swapnilnimbalkar

have you received the battery?
