Title: Need some help on selecting components for my new RC micro plane
Post by: meet2ami on June 03, 2013, 03:54:09 PM
Hello Everyone,

This is Amit from Kolkata. I'm pretty new to this hobby. Though I've flown a couple of RC & IR helicopters in my backyard yet have never flown any RC Plane. So thought of building one of my own. My biggest disadvantage is the flying space. So thinking of some thing small. After doing a bit of research over the internet, I've sorted out a few plans like this:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=796111

Now, I'm a bit confused over selecting the componets. Though selected a few of them but not sure whether they are compatible or not! So need your expertise suggestions.

1. Motor:

Turnigy 1811 Brushless Motor 2000kv - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8613__Turnigy_1811_Brushless_Motor_2000kv.html
or
Odin 1805 KV2000 (Thrust 135 gms) - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8613__Turnigy_1811_Brushless_Motor_2000kv.html

2 Servos :

Avionic 3.7g Servo (AV3.7A) - http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/792-avionic-37g-servo-av37a.aspx
or
Turnigy 1370A Servo 3.7g/0.4kg/.10sec - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7476__Turnigy_1370A_Servo_3_7g_0_4kg_10sec.html
or
HK-282A Single-Screw, Ultra-Micro Servo 2g / 0.2kg / 0.08sec - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14839__HK_282A_Single_Screw_Ultra_Micro_Servo_2g_0_2kg_0_08sec.html

3. Esc :

TURNIGY Plush 10amp 9gram Speed Controller - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__4204__TURNIGY_Plush_10amp_9gram_Speed_Controller.html
or
TowerPro 9g w12A Brushless Speed Controller - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__659__towerpro_9g_w12a_brushless_speed_controller.html

4. Prop :

GWS EP Propeller (DD-6030 152x76mm) - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__10045__GWS_EP_Propeller_DD_7035_178x89mm_6pcs_set_.html?strSearch=GWS%207035

5. Battery:

ZIPPY Flightmax 500mAh 2S1P 20C - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__6788__ZIPPY_Flightmax_500mAh_2S1P_20C.html
or
Wolfpack 500mah 25C 7.4V - http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/1323-wolfpack-500mah-25c-74v.aspx

Now I'm very much confused over selecting the Radio system (Rx & Tx)! Which one is the best compatable to the above listings? Also have to keep in mind I'll use this radio system in future models also. So please suggest me one which is good for beginers and  can be used in future models (mainly micro) as well. (Budget is also a concern :()

Thanks,
Amit

I would suggest the flitetest nutball or ft flyer [beginner plane] for you as u havent flown an rc before
you could use the following electronics;
12 amp esc
4.5 gram servos
a ct6b transmitter is recommended because its cheap and good for beginners
a 500 mah 2 cell lipo
Odin 2730 KV1300 or any other motor f the same class like the hextronik 24 gram 1300 kv or turnigy 2730 1700 kv

you can get almost all these items on rc bazaar
and you can fly these planes even in a small area and are easy to fly

@aeromodellerindian1  - Thanks a lot. The FT Flier site is a very useful one for me.

One concern though! What is this Foam material they are using? It is not the normal foam that we use here generally. Where can I get this stuff? Any idea in Kolkata? Or online?

Ok...but where to find these stuffs? Searched a lot over the internet, even searched in the local shops, but didn't find anything similar to that!
Anyone who knows shops in Kolkata or online where I can find these materials (Foamboard or biofoam or depron or coro sheets or coroplast or whatever it is called)?
