Title: New to RC, looking for help.
Post by: Atty on December 30, 2014, 04:42:24 PM
Hi Guys  :)

I am new to RC Hobby and have spent a decent time on researching and learning from internet. I am looking for someone who is from Delhi (I stay near Malviya Nagar) to help me out to get some hands-on experience in making and buying the stuff required for RC plane.

I have looked to few of the LHS in Delhi but cant find a budget ATF or RTF planes. Help me with suggestions on what and from where should I buy the starter components..

Thanks & Regards

Atty

Hi,

Welcome to this wonderful hobby & to RCIndia forum.

Look up HelliFlyer on this forum buddy, he should be able to get you started. He generally has everything to get you up and flying. He doesn't has a store, but he maintains his stock from home only (well atleast till sometime back).

Hi Atty,

Welcome to our RC lover community, as you said above, i am not from Delhi :), me from bangalore, though will try to help you out a bit.
as your new, 1st a fall you need to decide from where you have to start, i mean to say a multi rotor or a plane,Can you be specific that are you interested in making the stuff or simply buy and fly?

If your a maker, then my suggestion would be to start with a quad copter, as it will surely fly in your 1st attempt and will give you further confidence and it is bit easy to make also, you need to simply fit the components, for multicopters to order in Indian website, the best and cheapest you can find on quadkopters.com, they are very good in there business.

rest if you provide more details about your plan, we can further help you out.

Thanks Dheeraj, will look for "HelliFlyer" and try to get the components from him.

Oh, i did some research, he based in Delhi. And seems like he is more in heli's and quad. Anyways I found a website on his profile http://delhi-rclub.webs.com/apps/links/ (http://delhi-rclub.webs.com/apps/links/) . This is a Delhi based club which will be of great help to me.

Thanks again.

Hi Kullshaan,

Thanks for welcoming.

I am more of a maker and more inclined to planes than copters. What I am looking forward is to make a sort of glider plane which is slow and stable.

I was looking to the two babys which you have made. They are just awesome and would like to create something like that. Can you help me with the layout and the electronics which you have used to make it fly?

Hi Gyus,

To start with the plane, I thought to buy first biofoam for the structure. Done some research and found one shop near by, Sitaram Stationers in south ex. Going to buy 1-2 sheet and let you guys know the rates. On phone they told me 5mm @ 300 and 10mm @ 400, will try to bargain.

Did some research on layouts. found this link useful: http://www.instructables.com/id/Foam-RC-Airplane/ (http://www.instructables.com/id/Foam-RC-Airplane/)

I got one biofoam sheet. Its 24 * 36 inch, thickness is 5 mm.

Guys help me out to select the layout.  :help: :help: :help: :help:

hi atty
since u r new so upto me using bio foam is not a great idea
Actually u can by goods at a cheaper rate in www.rcsportz.com/ (//http://) (//http://) (//http://) (//http://) (//http://) (//http://)

or else in rcmumbai.com/

or else in Rc bazaar.... all these shops are good.... so straight away u cannot fly an 4 channel airplane and u need some muscle memory to come..
since u want to make a model u can start with a slope ... the link is given below for the plan
http://www.stevelange.net/spad/ (http://www.stevelange.net/spad/)
So better buy a simulator and make this model... this will let u out of fear... since its easy to make and gentle to fly... the budget also less... dont include the alierons... use a rudder surface and make two wing tips with some 45 degress which will give u some more stability...
u Can use aluminium rod for fuselage and try to use cf2822  because u can use aluheat shrink which with fits to the aluminium perfectly

Others please u can comment on it...

Atty, it is poor etiquette to hijack someone else's thread by posting your own needs on it, especially since you had already posted another thread on the same

Hi Sanjay and Anwar,

I know I did wrong by posting same things on 2 threads. I did not hijacked anyone's thread, just started 2. Will keep that in mind next time.

Thanks again Anwar for merging both as I was looking to delete the other but didnt find the option.

I don't want to pick hairs, but do not like being misquoted.

a) You posted on a thread started by Adel. And, posted extensively. It was the matter which you posted which was transferred to this thread. Therefore "I did not hijacked anyone's thread, just started 2" is wrong

b) My remark was originally posted in that same thread started by Adel. It got transferred here along with the rest

Anyway, I guess the meaning of the message is adequately clear.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you the very best during your build and flying, and if you need any help just shout

What has happened to courtesy in this country? Forgotten?
Why should a newcomer to a club/forum not address others as Sir?
Till he gets to know them personally.
You may have noticed that i address everyone as Sir, except those who are personal friends, or those who i know are younger than my children.

Yes KK Sir even I feel that one must address others as Sir till they know each other. This is a culture started by MNCs, but even there we address people in such way whom we know personally.  A hobby is not just making things and getting involved into the stuff, but also to respect the work we are doing, and respecting others who are into the same field.

Sorry Guys/Sir if you have been hurt.

The place where I work, work culture is very different than here. I have to even call my CEO by his name. There is no sir or mam as they think all are same and we can always learn from each other, regardless of the age.

Still, will keep that in mind too from next time I post or reply.

Usually lots of viewers but very few replies.
Topic heading should be specific to catch someone's attention.
Headings like 'New to RC', 'Need help' etc are too general, and usually indicate that the author has not bothered to search through the available material.
Such queries are so frequent now that the experienced members have stopped responding.

Something like 'All electronics including Tx for Rs 5900' perhaps...

Good to know you got your stuff. Posting pics of the shops was a good idea!

you need to sand it using a sandpaper.

So should I cut the triangles first or directly glue and sand them. My main concern is regarding the wings curvature.. Will it be able to create the low pressure high pressure zone as of an real plane wing.
