Hello. I am an absolute beginner here. Only discovered these forums about two months ago. I read a lot then finally bought a transmitter and have been practising on a simulator for a few weeks. While looking for parts and planes I quickly discovered that its not going to be easy on the wallet. Great, there is scratch building but still I found that the costs are comparable or even more than speed build kits. This particular flying wing is available for 2500 including the electronics.

So my first question,

1) Is a flying wing a good choice for a complete beginner? I will be missing out the fun of landing a regular plane but this is a great value given my budget. My current plan is to fly this wing for a while then upgrade to a conventional plane later as scratch building seems to require higher initial amount of effort and money. Advice needed.

Only have to buy a battery, assemble it and I'm ready to go with the above case. Speaking of batteries, the lipo balance chargers range anywhere from 2-5k.

2) Are these absolutely necessary for safe charging and a long battery life or will the cheaper ones like the one linked below do? Whats the difference?

https://robu.in/product/skyrc-e3-ac-2s-3s-li-po-battery-charger-v2-original/

3) Speaking of recharging batteries, do people buy new AA batteries every time their transmitter drains a set of batteries? If so any tips for longer battery life because I've already drained one set and that felt quick. Are rechargable NiCad batteries usable in the TX?

Additional question what about scratch building a flying wing? Feels easier and cheaper like the PizzaPlane from a pizza box by flitetest.

Thanks for taking time to read. :)

1. A flying wing for a beginner is hard, sim can help with the problem to some extent
2. the charger is not so good, it will shorten the life of the LiPo, but it can be used . even a fake imax b6 would be better.
3. i dont know which tx you have but you can use a Li-ion battery with a voltage step up  converter to acquire desirable voltage and mah. if its a trannis, it can handle tx Li-Po. there is a thread for fsi6 here.

its better to do something properly than doing it somehow.

you  can try the wing though. just reuse the electronics.

if you want to use the e3 anyways keep checking your cells with a multimeter that after complete charging the voltage does not exceed 4.25v (4.2v better) each cell and the difference between each cell does not exceed 0.03v.

once you have all parts, you can build new models and use the same electronics.

if you use the speed build kit just cut out some extra parts from plans.

if you have bought the kit, build it and fly it, dont be afraid of what will happen, just enjoy the moment and keep trying. this is the thing this hobby taught me.

Dubious Pilot....W/C To this wonderful hobby & this amazing forum.

m not an expert ....but here are my answers with 2 cents of knowledge n experience ...

1>> Flying wing is a bad choice for beginners....try building a tiny trainer from flitetest ...just scale the plans up to  120% and build using cardboard or foam...

2>> get a good charger...IMax B6 is most of the ppl use for small batteries.....little expensive but worth it ....

3>> you can absolutely use a NiMH or NiCad rechargeable batteries..... just need to  monitor the charge on them before you go flying

cheers mate.....fly safe ,  high n land safe//

Dude got a Isdt balance charger for lipo batteries. Imported from UK and brand new. Looking to sell it for 10k Indian rupees let me know if interested. For your knowledge: you need balance charger to charge your lipo battery. And the most important thing is to make sure you don't mess up your drone by charging your lipo using some jackass lipo charger. Improper charging your lipo might cost you your drone due to sudden voltage drop

The popular consensus does seem to disfavour flying wings so I'll scratch build a regular 4 channel plane. Though I have a friend with me so we can build/buy one flying wing too.

What do you mean by fake Imax b6 charger? Is this one fake?

Yes, I do have an fs-i6 I'll have to look that up. If you have the link, please do share it.

Hmmm. The transmitter shows the battery voltage on the screen. Why do we need to check voltage manually before flying?

if you are on a budget buy only this charger and no other--unless of course you want to buy a more expensive one...

the lite version is cheaper .. but has all the functions...

@Mehul Anand
That's funny. The original costs less than the copies. Don't tell me the copies are better  ;D
Edit: nevermind. The power adaptor cable is not included in the original one

@Imperial Fire
Maybe in the future. Right now I'll have to make do with even cheaper ones

Kiran rc is selling one. Imax B6.
Check it out. Don't worry about the two broken/lost buttons. Use a toothpick till you make substitutes.
