yup I saw the same thing on Hobbyking where they have these engines ..... and was wondering as to what the difference is ....hmmm.... even the price is like almost the same.....come on guys shed some light ;)
The engines are basically identical. The "remote" assembly allows one to fit the needle valve at a location for convenience or safety.

One has remote HS NV assembly and the other does not!
What are the real advantages and disadvantages of having a remote needle ? Do specific type of planes demand one type versus another ? Is a remote needle more prone to damage in crashes, or is it the other way around ?
Remote Needle Advantages :
1.) It may be useful in some cowled engines where there is not much space in the front for the needle to pop out.
2.) It increases the distance between the prop and your hand while tuning so, it a bit more safer.
3.) Most of the times the needle is placed on the backplate which also helps in changing the orientation of the needle which is very useful where the engine is mounted at an angle.
4.) During the crash, if you have a remote needle, there are less chances of damaging it as it is mounted on the backplate.
These are typical advantages. However, I do not see any disadvantages except for it may create some air bubbles as it is metering the dose at a distance. Though I am not much convinced about it.

That is the reason why you see the AX series OS switching back to needle at the carb.
As for bubbles being induced in the lines, the only factor affecting this is possibility of air creeping in the fuel supply chain. The more the components the more the chances. (e.g. remote needle valve). As long as the system is airtight it does not matter where you have the HS NV
I have noticed that the remote needles tend to break off easily during crashes, compared to the ones on the carb itself. Must be the nature of such crashes.
