Title: Suitable ESC
Post by: manjulal on May 15, 2018, 12:08:37 PM
Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if I can use safely use Hobbywing XRotor 20A-OPTO ESC (APAC Edition) with my Emax 2216/810 KV motor on a 4S LiPo setup. I plan to use prop sizes between 10 and 11 inches. Will the Amp draw exceed 20A?

Kindly advice.

Motor specs are not indicating amp draws, unfortunately.

Search on Google

At 14.8 volt with 1045 prop it's sucking not more than 15-16 amps

Did some basic search and found similar results, but I just wanted to confirm from experienced flyers like you. Thank you for the information. So guess I will go ahead and use that same ESC for now.

Check out the datasheet.
On 4s LiPo,
10" APC - Max current drawn is 15.4A

Thank you Kiran. I was running my quad on 3S Lipo and Emax Simon series 30A ESC's which are rated for 3S batteries. I am upgrading my battery to a 4S one...so thought of changing the ESC's with what I have with me. (X-Rotor 20A)
