Hi

Does anybody have experience with the Hawk Sky? I found a listing for it on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180577338368
Even though I'm nearly certain that this won't be the case ;), just wanted to confirm - is there a reasonable chance that this will reach me without too much trouble if I choose to order it?

Thanks
Naufal

You kidding.. ain't you? 54" + RTF + above 600gm and it will reach you without trouble... :) No!!!

Hi Naufal,

Please search this forum on importing planes and transmitters from abroad. You will get a clear picture.

Cheers..

Naufal -

Since Indian Hobbies sells the same, I would expect someone to have bought one.  Hopefully we have someone here on the forum who has one, and would pitch in on this thread.

As Atul said, there is quite a bit of risk in getting radios from abroad.  Personally, I find it difficult to even say "it is worth trying" when someone asks me about such imports.

.Dont talk about indianhobbies.com...they have VERY high prices...a charger on rcelectro is double the price in there....

The genuine reasons why LHS prices are higher on average has been discussed many times :-X  And when they are not just high but grossly overboard, the reasons are obvious.

But they are almost... X3 ...times the orignal price

While I am not promoting anything but try to contact RCDhamaka, they might very well be able to import this and that too not more than what you would end up paying if you buy online from ebay. This one is listed as 117 + 59 shipping roughly :Rs: 8500/- now if you have to pay duties take a rough estimate of 1500-2000 being very much conservative.. actual figures may vary and you might never be able to release it out of customs..

so assuming you got it out by paying 2000 your cost comes to :Rs: 10,500/-.. worth it ?

Now see this..
Multiplex Easy Star.. another 54" Glider available for 8200 (including shipping)  but this is not RTF model
http://cgi.ebay.in/MULTIPLEX-EASY-STAR-/110613314347?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item19c1113b2b

You require
    * 4 CH-RADIO WITH RECEIVER - 2000-3000 for HK radio
    * ESC 40AMP - 1000
    * SERVO 16GMS--2NOS. - 1000
    * BRUSHLESS MOTOR;2212/6 - 500
    * BATTERY---11.1/2200MAH - 500

may be another 5000 worth investment but the electronics will be of YOUR choice and you can make it as powerful as you want.

so for just 2000 more (13000) you can get your 54" Glider "FOR SURE", without any hassles... worth it ??? totally I guess

Thanks for the advice :) I'll definitely give this a try. Incidentally it was the Easy Star that led me to the Hawk sky (touted as a clone of the former only with ailerons and a brushless motor)
