Im new to this forum and this is my first post! I couldnt find anything relevant to what i needed hence thought of starting one and asking you wise guys for some answers...

Im looking at my first electric rc plane. Balsa is the material I have chosen. Now I read posts about balsa vs. foam and others, but would still like to stick to balsa. I have some 1 mm balsa. A tiny 4 mm motor with gear head (5:1) which I cannibalised from a china made mini heli.. a 1.5 gms 3.7 v 120 mah lipo... the heli rx is tiny with a built in esc and lipo charger (the type that charges the battery from the tx). The rx must certainly be 2 channel as there are only two controls in the heli - forward and turn. I have the tools necessary and have made 2-3 planes which were ok in free flight with some CG changes and looked very promising, but didnt actually work when I installed the battery and motor/prop complete. I havent got to the rudder stage yet as first I thought I need to get this thing to fly. The wingspan is 7 inches and the total weight is 9 gms. The plans i used were for the plantraco's mini planes.

Can some one help me with the best combo and the best plan to get this to fly? Also, I know I will need a different rx but not sure which one. My questions are very elementary, Im new to the hobby and want to explore miniature models straight away. I have flown a few helis and 100% RTF cheap chinese planes (as suggested by Rao in some post) and am only looking at tiny planes right now. Thanks.
