aside from these main parts i'll purchase soldering kit,XT60 connectors and banana connectors

now coming to the Questions, mostly related to FPV setup

1)in km or metres how much range will i get from Tx/Rx combination? i plan to mostly fly around Central Park and the Golf Course here at Kharghar, both areas are HUGE!

2)is it possible to control Quads using a transmitter attached to a gamepad/joystick/game controller somehow, like PS4 controller for example

3)what camera set up to use for FPV? the sony ccd type camera for viewing and SJ4000/Xiaomi Yi for recording only,or Xiaomi Yi/SJ4000 as recording AND viewing camera?

4)where to purchase these "Sony CCD" cameras? most seem to be imported? and no online store in india seems to have them

5)i am using F450 frame(DJI Flamewheel knock off) so where to mount camera and video tx? i am not looking for Gimbals because they are too expensive,a video will be helpful about how to mount cameras to F450 frame directly

6)any feedback on sites like Aliexpress,Banggood and HobbyKing,do packages ordered from these sites get stuck in customs?

Welcome to RCI, Shawn!  ;D

Do feel free to ask any question you like! The only 'annoying' questions are the ones that aren't asked at all!

Let's get to your queries.

1) Usually you will get a line-of-sight range of around 1000 meters with your radio (which is usually enough for a 450 sized quad).

2) It is possible but not a good idea for a beginner.

For queries 3 to 5: Currently, remote controlled aerial systems with cameras are banned so be careful with that.

6) It is always a good idea to get stuff locally if you are a beginner. The local hobby shops in India are really helpful and co-operative.

There are abundant videos and blogs online explaining everything about building quadcopters. The best way to proceed is to divide your build into parts and solve each problem as you face it.

Good luck with your build!

Thank you for prompt reply  :thanks:

could you please answer questions 3 to 5? I know its banned here but its not like im going to upload the footage to youtube,so *hopefully* nobody will know.
flying RC aircraft isn't illegal though right?

3) in a board camera, all it does is output a video signal to the video transmitter. an action cam like a GoPro or Sjcam also record the video along with giving a video out signal. smaller analog cameras have a few advantages so you may want to look into that. i personally use a boatd cam for flying and actioncam for recording.

4) youll just have to search for it. I think Most LHS have stock though...

5) use your imagination! you could make a mount and ziptie it, or use a velcro strap... as for the vtx, generally you would put it to orient the antenna correctly, and as far away from the receiver as possible...

hope this helps

Since most of your questions have been answered, I would like to ask one question. Is there any particular reason you want to build a 450 size quadcopter? Unless you have any particular requirements like aerial photography, I would recommend a 250 size. They are far more fun to fly.

i mainly wanted it for FPV video and as a DIY hobby project.
can you recommend any 250 size quads? do they qualify as a mini quad?

i went for 450 size because several youtube channels and forum posts recommend the F450 frame saying that its widely available and most compatible

as i've mentioned i'm a noob so i dont have much idea about all these things,RC is such a big hobby after all

I agree, but not for novice or first timer. Its bit sophisticated, for beginners its better to start with 450 sized.

These items would be shipped from India (infact from within Mumbai) so there is no chance of it getting stuck or anyone asking you bribe.
