Hi,
Going to build 1818 revenue cutter "ALERT". It is a static model but i am going to convert it in to RC as per the event rules. Let's see how it response after modification. Experts can also advice in these matter.
Project Start Date : 16th March 2014
Type : Scratch Build
eagerly waiting for more photos of that beauty u will build. :hatsoff:
Krunal's eye for detail and RC - this one is going to be a piece for the museums.
Will be following this keenly. All the best Krunal
thans friends for your wishes Just completed bulkhead work. Probably will fix it by tomorrow and give you an update with pics.
Little update on hull. Running very slow. Need Notro to speed up :giggle:
Cool...subscribed
Days are passing on an on. Got some time to take build a step ahead. The first level of covering is over. It's march end and very difficult to spend time with her. Yet to order some parts for deck fittings from a hobby shop. Planning is to cover her with copper sheet pieces in bottom or maybe apply wooden sheet pieces. It is very tough job to give real look but I am on for it. Probably will apply a second layer Sunday. Then will take the job of mast work.
She is shaping up now pretty well. Deck is there and started second level of planking. Very time consuming job but defiantly it will give very beautiful look to her. Probably by Sunday it wil be finish and then actual challenging work will start.
Wow!
That kind of planking is not easy.
Memories getting the planking to bend, on a cutter, circa 1968...
@gajjark
You and some other boat guys and that railway paul drive me nuts with your exquisite work!
:hatsoff: sir this is just an attempt to bring memories back. Many would agree with that now a days hobby is not be taken as a hobby. It is mainly a toy for elders now a days. Trying to continue all the traditional way of model making.
Wait for couple of days. Will take you through the era of late mr aurora. By making rc of tiny smite from foam sheet. But right now focusing on alert. :)
1989. 5 year old son. Pond off Road No 12, Banjara Hills, Hyd.
2 ch Cox Sanwa, Raja toys motor, On/off/reverse. Proportional rudder. 27 mHz antenna strung from fake whip antenna/flagpost.
SMITE
Still there somewhere in my junk, hull still in primer, removable deck still not even doped...
Man, were we smitten...
After reading your comments I remembered about my smites so took them out of my stuff. One is damaged during the transfers, though repairable. The second was partially completed and is demanding completion. Maybe next project.
Another old boat lying for restoration
Yes Iyer Sab. We are.
Nice mr Ashok.models require makeover. :giggle:
After a week she is dressed up with second layer of strips. Now deck will be dressed up with .5 mm pine wood strips. Couple of place is still require to be filled but after first dope of clear.

Krunal: I couldn't agree more with you!
It is like Art Appreciation. First you view the artifact as a whole, then move on to the smaller fine detail. In our hobby, modern times have led to the Instant Gratification Syndrome; RTFs are the rage, and the full beauty of the artifact is lost, only the first quick glance predominates
+1 :hatsoff:
Super Build Krunal
Thanks sundaram sir and rcpilotacro.
Condition is very tough coz not able to focus on build i don't know the reason but major one is my lazyness :-\. any how i will have to put rocket behind to reach to the destination as yet to make mast and deck fittings. hull is ready with dope. Want your opinion friends is there any thing more i can do with to make it more attrective?
Updated version. She is shining like gold. Can't resist my self to put more coat of shiner. But not now. Yet to make deck fittings and will have to fix mast on it. Require space for rc set up so going to cut down few bulk heads and shaping up keet to mentain strength also.
Few more pics with temp fixed mast.
After long time of micro work on hard wood and balsa, almost all the deck fifftings are ready.
Rigging rope is made by self out of cottom thread. It tooks 2 hrs of weaving for 2 mtr length. Mortar is made out of balsa.
Pully blocks Bollards and fenders are made by hard wood. Cabin is made out by balsa. Now i am going to start rope work with mast and fenders. Model will be with running rigging.
Work of art, especially the handmade rope. :hatsoff:
Ready fenders with rope work.
Thanks Iyer sir for your complements.
Completion of mast. And deck plates. 70% work of shaping up the parts is over. Next step is to set up the mast and sails with rigging rope. Blocks and pulleys will be fixed up at the place. Then will fix RC and finally maiden sail. Keeping my fingers cross and need your wishes as this is the first attempt of RC conversion.
Deck plates are in place. It will be covered by clear coat.
Ahmedabad see you Monday. :(

Krunal bhai superb
A Master Shipbuilder.
And an occasional source of balsa and ply.
I have happy memories of the time he visited me and left me a pack of balsa sheets for a token amount.

awesome detailing, {:)} {:)}
This brings back memories galore of the time i used to live the adventure classics not on tv but the original unedited versions, reading novels. From Treasure Island , Robinson Crusoe , Swiss family Robinson, and so many others, i just had to vision such a ship and always dreamt building it . Well done sir, love it , and apart from constructing it , another job is to take pictures as you continue the build. Thank you for posting .
I am thinking to complete it but don't know why....I am not able to complete it. Every thing is made including sails and rigging parts. But now it has a reason. Going to gift it to my guru Mr K B Patel as he is going to retire next month. I think there won't be any precious than this.
What should i do with it more?
Any Suggestions?
@gajjark,
Here's a true story.
I'd been saying that all my models would be burnt.
One modeller heard of this, and asked me if he could have some of them.
He never realised that the meaning was "all my work will vanish (turn to ash) along with me"
We have met once before.
Please come again.
Regards
:hatsoff:
Thanks for invitation. Surly plan to visit. Just waiting for one news to come.
Progress progress progress ;D ;D ;D
Anchor fixed. Stanchion is in its place. Canon rigging is ready. Even you can notice bollards at it's place with fenders ;).
Was thinking to do rigging without sail. What is expert's suggestions? :headscratch:
In continuation with the previous update. :)
Down from shelf. In coming time I guess it would be final for showcase.
Waiting for it
