Title: add a working turret to our crafts in an even more easier way..
Post by: roopeshkrishna on February 24, 2012, 11:33:41 PM
Modellers..after posting about to adding a turret, with a reworked servo, i got lots of blessings and happy notes from all over the Globe..from many Modellers..and after few days, i started to receiving some more personal requests to add a turret with some more easy way..in reality, the main problem is related to servo rework..i realizes that only a few among us are capable to open a servo, and to rework on it..and some of the Seniors are repeatedly asking for a way to add a turret on their crafts..that, they are not going to rework on a servo..and secondly, they are un able to buy a servo streacher..so, one senior modeler is angry on me..sorry for the delay..was working on many crafts..we can starve..but how can we live without making a craft..? is it possible to add a working turret without opening it..and without a servo streacher..?  cool..
what we need..?  we need nothing but some more handy things..here we starts..
take a micro, or standard servo, all according to you..and to the size of the craft..

now..take two plastic pullies, one small and one big, big means five times bigger than the smaller one..this pullies can scrap from old tape recorders, walkman, and VCRs..and can also found in robotic kits and more..or you can make it from foam board, brass etc..

old walkman capstan is a best bet..
take a big pulley, and slice off any protuding parts..from it..make it clean..and make sure it's base is flat..

now drill a big hole through the existing small hole, that, allows a servo mounting, or apropriate size screw through it..
and drill a 4 mm hole on small pulley, and inser a piece of bicycle spoke as shown..

take a circular flange from servo kit, and place it on the shaft as shown..make sure it is prfectly fit..
now take the drive belt of walkman, or can also use silicon rubber bands..

take a servo mounting screw or any screw that feel apropriate..
screw the big pully on to the servo drive shaft..

insert the little pully with spoke as shown..make sure the spoke is free in it..

take a piece of foam board, and make a cutting for servo..
fix servo in to hole..please do not glue it..but with screws..

will it work..? nicely..and here you can see an other simple idea..when the main big pully turns, the smaller lully will turn 5 times..so, a 30 degree rotation drives the smaller pully to almost 360 degree..!! and can adjust the angle of rotation in to any degree by choosing various pullies..all of my materials and ideas are keys..all we can make it from gigh quality materilas, and stuffs, and can take our own time to finish our models with great detail..here we do not used any extra ordinary materials..all handy..need not any complicated electronics circuits, no servo streachers..no servo reworks..all simple..and even a child can do..
can see the simple BEC..
