Guys this is my first ever build. i would like to thank all the ppl of RC India for helping especially V.K.singh(RCelectro), Mr. V.C and Mr. Roopesh for all the help they have provided.

I would be updating the log as and when I get time. Right now I am filling and sanding the boat.

I had no Idea how much Hardner to mix with the body filler. the first trial was a flop. Had to remove the filler and redo it. the pictures of the boat from before sanding are from the failed try.

guys I found a very neat trick to compress your photos. download picasa and add the album to picasa select the picture you want and click the send by email option. It will compress and send you. I know this is stupid (you have to send it to yourself). But this was the easiest option available to me.

Pratheesh, as I had told you, you needn't have taken all the trouble using body filler / hardener and other stuff. For the first build you should have kept it simple. plain old enamel paint would have been enough. At the most you could have used a light coat of surfacer putty or 'M Seal' as a gap filler.

I am not very creative so used a single solid RED. do tell me if i could improve the  look a little with some minor changes.

Fast build! Please try and post bigger pictures ( from different angles) so that the members can comment and suggest improvements, if any.

he he I am a very impatient guy...... that's why it is finishing quickly and that's also the reason for the poor finishing.
will post the picture tomorrow once the paint dries.

Hai..Pratheesh..its a nice attempt..and going well.looks good.and waiting to see her in water with a powerful motor setup. to compress the photographs, the Adobe Photoshop is the best option.buy an authorized software of Adobe Photoshop 7 and it need only a basic setup.have a nice build..

I found the option to resize the image in Picasa itself its the option in 'File' called 'Export to folder'. I was searching for the keyword resize...   In my opinion they have not named it right.   but you cant complain as the software is free.

  Now I am facing a small problem. I have a small Chinese dremel and dont have a file like Roopesh. How to drill a long hole for the propeller shaft?

hi mate.
is it 'balsa wood' you need to 'drill' through ??
if so take some thing like the size of the shaft you are going to use...........don't do it before you have the shaft........you need to know the size first.
try a 'straight' bike spoke....balsa is very soft and a spoke in a drill should go through ok ..very carefully though'.. may be file a point on the end and dont push very hard.

Nice build log buddy. what kind of a filler are you using ? is it polyester putty ?
also , regarding the looks, i think it looks great. You could paint a waterline by using a covering tape on the hull and painting below it.

@sunk - the main rib of the boat is made of nu-balsa. its a little harder than the regular balsa. and im making a similar boat and planning to drill through it too

I am using car body filler, dont know if that is same as polyester putty. Thanx for the idea for water line, btw where I dont know where the waterline starts? and if i colour Blue over red wouldn't it look bad or a few coats of blue will hide RED?

hi mate.
water line ....it's just that............ where the water comes to when the boat is floating.
have a bowl of water........... perfectly sill..... then sprinkle 'talcum power' on the water........not a lot, then put boat in care fully, when boat is lifted out the powder will show the water line ......... put a different color from this line down and on the bottom .....or get some 'line tape' from car shop and just put that where the talc line is.

Guys yesterday my sister arrived, so took her help to draw some lines(taking inspiration from Roopeshji). I know the line isnt very straight any ideas how to keep a double line like dis straight??

@Roopeshji how do you keep the super structure of the boat removable but fixed??

hai..its looking good now.. Pratheesh, if you want to draw straight lines with brush, it will take practice a lots.but you can simply add these demarcation lines with reflecting tape, used on cars, can buy in strips in desired thickness, in rolls, and can stick, it with the help of a straight edge.

to fix the super structure, as removable, you can glue some foam board, or card board strips, just within the super structure inside.to get a nice fit, mark the outline around the super structure, while holding in place,and remove. so you will get a clear outline about the super structure periphery. now draw a second line roughly, leaving the thichness of the walls of super structure. fix some strips just below the second lines. so can fix the super structure there and can remove..waiting to see her in water..

I knew the lines were not very neat so I was thinking of ways to make it look gud and got a very simple idea of drawing a black line with a marker at the edge and it worked nicely. The line looks much neater now and I didnt have to do much work also for that.  

Great! Now get hold of some Overhead projector transparencies or you can use a simple spine folder jacket to cut out the windscreen and port holes.
Stick them inside the superstructure (cabin) to simulate glass.
Instead of keeping hull, deck, cabin all of the same colour, it will look better if you paint the hull black or yellow or some other shade.

VC ji I am planning to do the hull navy blue. have got some light blue and black paint ill mix to get the colour. I am actually fitting the motor and the prop. So I am waiting to finish that part of before applying the final coat. And about the OHP transparencies have gotten hold of a few sheets yesterday, hope to finish the windows today.
