hi i need to make a hovercraft some 35*25 cms. i saw VC's design whwich was reaally good. can anybody tell me where i can get the desired motors. and which ones i should basically look for. I have the right to use 2 motors. 1 for lift and 1 for propulsion. my target weight is about 400-500 grams and i need to make it within a week... please advice... :)
hey, taurean, you can visit this site sites.google.com/site/hovermaniatz11 (http://sites.google.com/site/hovermaniatz11).I have uploaded a tutorial to build a hovercraft with all possible motor setups that can be used for lift and propulsion.also, you can go through the details of a hovercraft designing event "HOVERMANIA"
that will be held in NIT-WARANGAL on 23rd september.Let me know if you are interested in participation.
thanks buddy... m preparing for my own sp4mm3r here...
ok,all the best
Taurean welcome to the forum!
You would need to use brushed DC motors like this:

Since you stay in Chennai. Check out this site. Maybe you can be the official supplier for all of us on the forum!

They have an amazing range of top class motors.
All the best!
rsQire,
Very educative tutorial. It will help a lot of people in building their first hovercraft. Well done!
but VC sir aren't brushless motors better than brushed ones??
Brushless motors are more efficient but need a steady flow of air over them to keep them cool. That is why they are ideally suited for aeromodels. Brushed motors are preferable for land and water crafts as they run cooler without a heavy airflow.
thanks for this info.. but what do you think will be the cost of this project?? i ahve a budget of Rs 6000. Plus m not very sure about the LiPo batteries...
Just check with the trusted LHS listed and operating here and they will be able to give you a good deal on what you need.
All the best Buddy!
where will i find this LHS?? ???
Thank you VC sir.
Hey Taurean ,you can build a hovercraft with a much lower budget if you use only brushed motors along with brushed esc's.Even if you use brushless setup, the cost of building will go to around 3k,excluding the radio.
LHS = Local Hobby Shop. My mistake, I should have explained the acronym. Check here:
