Good evening all of my Friends...when i decided to make a craft with FISHTAIL PROP, it was a great head ache to me, that about the mechanism of a actuator...so i searched painstakingly all over the net..most of the mechanism of the crafts were too complicated to adopt...4 servos, hydraulics...and some was backed up by EPROM...!!!!...so none of them arent suitable to me...so i turned to my own drawing board...
and this time i am thanking to one of my Colleague, who is a mechanical engineer working in the field of aviation..for presenting me a brand new set of X ACTO knife...and yes loads of putty and paints...hi...hi...

I know, that a craft with a fishtail prop must be some thing unusual in nature...so i contacted one marine engineer, working in Naval force, for some reff: but he discouraged me a lots, and he said me, that it wont work...but i started my work, and the result was astonishing...

Yes..i started my work, as usual, with thermocol...

All we know that it is not possible to apply putty on the thermocol...so after a simple proses, i call it SEASONING, i started to work with putty on it....

and the fixation...

i added a pice of an old XRAY sheet on the tail assy to get a soft action...

and now she is in water...

from my work, all you can see how easy and exciting is...i hope you also make some extra ordinary crafts like this....

:goodjob:

Very cool !  What is the turning mechanism ? It does not look like the fin being stationary on side is causing it to turn "in place".

Once again, simply COOL! Truly inspirational!  {:)} :salute: :hatsoff:

It looks like a space-shuttle that has sprouted a tail-fin!
You should show this to the marine engineer who discouraged you, he'll realize what hard work and dedication can achieve!

hi mate.
nice work there.............have you thought of perhaps two keels......... like on 'sail boats' one forward amd one aft to help stop the side ways wag and get more from the fishtail?
I like it .very novel. looks good.   :) {:)}

Good morning and Anwar saab, the actuator mechanism is a simple toy car gear box.and the gear wheel is on top is an other gear, scraped from an old toy and its function is only work as a cam..you can see a simple brass rod, running from the gear wheel,to drive the aluminium arm, driving the two long rods to the fin...its simple..this was my first craft , yes so there must be some awkwardness, as i was finishing with some hurry. on my next same craft i will go for some nice extent, as i got a clear idea about the things.i hope all you may got some nice ideas from my humble works. if so i am happy...and soon i will make a second nice looking craft, named as OLIVE..is a boat with fishtail prop...thank you..

Sunk..sir, actually at beginning i added some side and aft fins under the craft..then i removed it, bcause such modification stops it's waggle action, just like a fish, and puts tremendous torque on the simple toy gear box..the used gear box is not much good, and it was driven by a simple 3 volts motor..i am looking for a good gear box for my next craft, and will add some mentioned surface there..you are sure, the modification you advised are true in practical sense..and thanks for the advice about it..

Got that part.  I was referring to the "static" (or "in-place") turns.  In other words, how does it do what seems to be abrupt changes in direction when the craft is about to hit a wall.

Anwar sab, i will post some more detailed photographs of the mechanism here so you will get even more idea...and the directional control was achieved by a simple thrust pump placed under the belly of the craft..please give me a little time to photograph it...and i have a light walk to my cafe...sure i will post it here...and you will get some clear idea...and this craft was powered by a simple toy radio...

Ah thrust pump... No need for further details, especially if it is a hassle for you.

hi mate.
the side thrust pump is very good idea and modification of thruster props.........much easier to achieve with pump.
do you use two pumps....1 for each side or can you direct the 'nozzels'
exellant thoughts there.
I am impressed with the lateral thinking going on in this forum.
